Anyone else? please reassure me?
i'm paranoid after a succession of early miscarriages. Midwife heard heartbeat just a few days ago so i know i'm being silly, but miscarriage does that to you....
i'm sure i felt movement by now with my DS, but it was years ago, and i wasn't analysing everything, like i am this time.

I didn't feel anything with either of mine unril 22 weeks and 20 weeks respectively.

buttonmoon78 · 06/08/2010 15:31

You're right - mc makes you a paranoid individual. Been there, done that!

I'm sure everything's fine. You'll feel it soon enough. Probably you'll suddenly realise that the bubbly feeling you've had for a while is actually your baby!

Mam2Be · 06/08/2010 15:36

I don't know if this is advised but I used my own doppler for the first couple of months of pregnancy just for peace of mind. I've stopped now as baby moves plenty enough to stop the worrying.

Might make you feel happier to hear the baby's heartbeat, I know it helped me :)

MrsJohnDeere · 06/08/2010 15:41

I didn't feel anything with ds2 until 22 weeks because of the position of the placenta (at the front iirc).

Graciescotland · 06/08/2010 15:42

I didn't feel anything till about 19 weeks. I think it's normal.

lilmamma · 06/08/2010 21:00

my daughter felt like bubbles at about 18 weeks and now feels like tiny flicking, but we cant feel anything yet,so its early days, just yet, give it a few more weeks..xx

japhrimel · 07/08/2010 07:45

I wouldn't worry. I started feeling flickers at around that time but wasn't convinced it was the baby until the kicks started around 20 weeks. My MW has said I need to count movements only after 28 weeks.

samoy · 07/08/2010 19:27

Sotough its nice to see you on here-congratulations on getting to 17 weeks! I have been wondering how you have got on. Im now nearly 15 weeks and longing to feel some movement for reasurrance too but i know its far too early. Hope all continues going well for you, im sure it will:)

MrsNozzle · 07/08/2010 20:09

Not unusual - I didn't feel movements until round about my 20 week scan.

sotough · 07/08/2010 21:34

oh hi samoy - brilliant that you're at 15 weeks! did you take any interesting medication to make it work this time? i am still on clexane injections, and took steroids for the first 12 weeks. i'm still a nervous wreck, constantly fearing it's all gone wrong. midwife has been fanstastic and offered weekly appointments to listen to the heartbeat, which is a real help, thouugh at the last appointment they initially couldn't find the heartbeat, and you can imagine how that felt. (turned out it's not too easy to hear with a doppler at 16 weeks if you have a full bladder! went to the loo and they found it right away after that)

hi sotough

I had 3 MCs and have been a nervous wreck through out this pregnancy too (I am 29 weeks now, but no successful pregnancies yet). I am only just starting to relax properly to be honest!

I know that for every person who suggests them, there's another who says that they cause more worry than good, but I bought a doppler at 16 weeks. I found it extremely reassuring. If I ever hadnt felt her moving, I would settle down with that and heard the heartbeat within a minute every time after that. I got an Angel Sounds one off amazon for about £35 and it was money well spent. My husband loved listening to it too.

Try and relax (I know that is a ridiculous thing to say and can't really believe I just said it!) - you have got through the worst of it and it will get better from now on. Once you start feeling strong kicks you will be able to chill out even more. I haven't used my doppler for weeks now Smile

good luck to you and CONGRATULATIONS.

LadyRabbit · 08/08/2010 12:39

Don't worry sotough - I think it varies so much. I didn't feel my baby kick until about 19/20 weeks, and even then it was so faint I wasn't sure if it was baby or, erm, wind! Once he had established a firm kicking routine, I couldn't mistake them. (He's still kicking the hell out of me every night even though at 34 weeks I thought he'd be a little cramped in there Grin ) I too was paranoid after a few miscarriages, I think it's only natural to feel like that.

My doc said don't worry about it if you even get to 24 weeks and haven't felt anything. And was chatting to a friend the other day who had an anterior placenta who never felt any kicks at all - which I thought was a bit sad. But she and baby were fine. (Interestingly, I was always a bit sceptical about people who go into labour without knowing they're pg but it makes sense if you never feel baby kick and are already on the larger side.)

Congrats on the baby, hope you have a good remainder of your pregnancy.

ivykaty44 · 08/08/2010 12:42

with dd2 I never felt her move until 20 weeks, I had flet dd1 moving at aorund 14 weeks - so was suprised that I didn't fel dd2 for so much later.

Though dd1 had been like carrying a massive football team that wiggled all the time - I could actually see her arms moving across my tummy later on, I never had as much movement from dd2

so they are all different and don't worry - when you are 39 weeks and the baby is kicking you inside the ribs - you will wonder when it will stop!

samoy · 08/08/2010 19:47

hi again sotough im on heparin too and also aspirin. Im also a nervous wreck, got a scan tomorrow,so feeling really nervous tonight. If all ok for me i might go to midwife for doppler instead from now on too but what a game this is eh. I think you are doing brilliantly, you have gone way past your 'dangerous' time have nt you? Although i do understand that once you have lost a baby you can never truly relax and the whole pregnancy is very scary x

Goodluckbear · 09/08/2010 09:44

Hi sotough - congrats!! That sounds normal, I'm now 21 weeks and only just feeling movement in the last week. When you start feeling it, it doesn't happen all the time, there are a couple of days where I didn't feel anything. I imagine when you get to the 25/26 week mark it'll be very obvious - sorry it's such a loooooong wait until then!!

slimyak · 09/08/2010 11:17

17 weeks is still very early to feel anything even with subsequent pregnancies.

I too hav had 3 MC's so understand your worry. The no mans land where you start feeling human again but can't feel your baby yet so the worry robs you of those few weeks where you could do stuff without being completely distracted.

Go for a doppler if that will make you more reassured, but ask your midwife top show you how to use it - you don't need the panic caused by not picking up a heart beat because you're usinging wrong.

My last scan showed the placenta at the front so I've been warned I may not feel movements well into early 20's.

PatsyIsPreggers · 09/08/2010 11:58

I didn't feel anything until 20 weeks, so as other posters say I think it's perfectly normal not to have felt it yet. Congrats on your pregnancy and hope it all continues well for you.

Astralabe · 09/08/2010 21:22

I didn't feel anything until 21 weeks... don't worry about it.
