I have been diagnosed with hyperemesis. I was hospitalised at 9 weeks, been on cyclizine since but still vomiting 3 times a day at least quite horribly. I am shattered and exhausted. When I was admitted I was vomiting more than 30 times a day, couldnt keep my own saliva down never mind water.

Now I am keeping food down but at the same time everyday I am vomiting horribly. 11am and 3pm.

I am shattered and fed up. I am coming up to 13 weeks, when will it stop, when can i enjoy being pregnant. please :(

hi julez i "know" you from the miscarriage board....my name used to be kissmummy but have been sotough for a while.
first of all it's brilliant that you're nearly at 13 weeks! was everything ok at your 12 weeks scan? i'm assuming you've had it and all looked good?
hyperemesis sounds absolutely awful - i know someone else who went through it - and i've no idea how long it will go on. all i can suggest is that in the darkest moments you 'keep your eye on the prize' which is your desperately wanted baby. the other thing i'd say is that for us recurrent miscarriers, i don't think pregnancy is really enjoyable any more - at least not until much later. i was sure that if i ever got to 12 weeks, i'd be dancing on air. i was - for all of about a day. then i started worrying again. and i'm still worrying. i'm 17 weeks now; still checking for blood every time i go to the loo; still fixating on whether there's a heartbeat or not; and now worrying about abnormalities at the 21 week scan. i'd like to think i''ll start enjoying it if everything is okay after 21 weeks, but i'm not betting on it.the other thing is that for various reasons i'm having to hide my pregnancy from work until the last possible minute. (the legal point at which i have to tell them.) so that's not fun either.
oh yes, and i still have a horrible metallic taste in my mouth most afternoons and evenings, and don't enjoy food any more. but i'm absolutely thrilled to bits to be this far along, after four miscarriages in a row, and ultimately that's all that matters. try not to be fed up, despite everything you're going through (easy to say, obviously!) all the same, our pregnancies are a miracle, and we'd far rather anything than to be going through another miscarriage.

Hi - I am so sorry to hear you are having such a rough time.

I am 22 weeks now and was never as bad as you but I was vomiting a few times a week pretty much from the week leading up to my period being due (and obviously not arriving) till week 15 and now I am sick occasionally if I eat something or smell something my baby or hormones just doesnt like!

One sip of tea made me sick once!

It is miserable and like I said I was nothing as bad as you but even my little bit of sickness made me feel emotional and distressed so can only imagine how draining this is for you.

I am so happy to be pregnant (this is my first experience of pregnancy) but have to say the sickness has made the first trimester abit of a miserable experience and I was disappointed I wasn't getting to enjoy my baby/my experience at all.

Now at 22 weeks I am much better and I really hope that once you get out of the first tri (week 14 or there abouts) it will ease off at least.

hang in there - I have comforted myself with the knowledge that this time next year for example - fingers crossed - I'll have my baby and am sure the vomiting and labour will be a distant memory.
