Nappy pail for disposables?

Ok, this is a bit of a daft question but do I need a nappy pail if I'm going to use disposables?? A friend said it should be on my list to get but surely I'll just use the nappy bags and put them in the bin? Am I missing something?

No you don't.

Some people have nappy bins for the nursery so you just empty that straight into the dustbin instead of individually bagging them but to be honest, i wouldn't bother. I had one when i was in a flat but it smelt terrible and i gave up and just nappy sacked them and chucked them by the front door till next trip out.

no, you don't. i had a nappy pail/bucket for soaking poo stained clothes but not for the nappies!

Thanks dancingonmybladder (great name by the way), that's exactly what I thought - and the same reason why I'm not going for one of those disposal systems. Glad I'm not missing a trick!

Another bucket q - is it worth having a lidded one to soak clothes in? Or can I just chuck the dirty clothes in the machine with a bucket load of napisan?

X-posts city! So worth it for the poo clothes then? We have a tiny flat so am trying to cut back on non-essentials but it looks like a soaking bucket might be worth it.

Bucket load of napisan is not great and won't necessarily work anyway.

You need to flush the poo down the loo before you put the nappy in the bin.

You do want a lidded bin to keep the smells in but doesn't have to be a special baby one.

I had tommee tippee one and I loved it, saved making hundreds of trips to the bin with nappies! I never had a problem with smell until I opened it to empty it, although you do need to empty it more frequently once they start having solids but they are bigger nappies so you can fit less in and they sell birth-6 month and 6 months onwards refills.

I had several friends who I would visit and they would have a pile of nappies by the door in nappy sacks, much preferred my bin to the scenario.
