Don't think mine count as cravings, they are more just things I feel I can stomach through the nausea at the moment.

My current can't-get-enough foods are tinned mandarins, peaches and pears, and toffee muller lites.

Far better than my last pregnancy though where I craved full fat babybels and orange lucozade. I got VERY fat!

I'm jealous of my friend who always craves ice cubes when she's pregnant - fat free, calorie free, brilliant!

A pg friend at work eats beanston pickle on everything - sandwiches, baked potatoes (so far so good), fish, salad, beans, even seen her use it as dip for crisps.

Milk and cereal. Nectarines and plums. Hot chips with lots of salt.

watersprite · 02/08/2010 21:54

DC1 pickled onion space raders.
Now I love the smell of paint or marker pens which isn't good!

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 02/08/2010 21:57

I haven't really had cravings. I sort of feel like I need something but I can't put my finger on what it is. If anything, I have started wanting a lot of roast dinners and gravy, anything involving gravy mainly.

Before I was pregnant I had bad cravings for ink! How weird is that?? I really wanted to chew through all my pens and drink the ink but managed to resist it. I did wonder if it would come back in pregnancy but I've been safe so far.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/08/2010 22:08

Last pg I didn't really get any - was sick for weeks and I could only eat cheddar cheese and sliced cucumber for about a month.

This time the sickness hasn't kicked in yet and I am craving salty things so badly. Crisps in sandwiches, chips with loads of salt. Have lost my sweet tooth for the moment which is weird.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 02/08/2010 22:14

I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant with my 2nd DC.

Healthiest craving- Granny Smiths Apples, juicy oranges, nectarines and kiwi fruit.

Unhealthiest cravings- Hula Hoops, Goats cheese, Brie, Stilton and those GU chocolate pots.

I started this pregnancy weighing 9lb 10oz and now weigh 11lb 4oz. Oh dear.

cordiality · 02/08/2010 22:19

You still seem to be worryingly underweight breastmilk!

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 02/08/2010 22:52

thankyou cordiality you have made me feel a bit better as I have been feeling a bit crap about the weight I have gained. I am overweight for my height now and I have put on far too much, just like last time when I ended up at 15 stone. Is this normal? Does everyone gain like this? I started off with a BMI of 24 and now am well over that.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 02/08/2010 23:11

healthy cravings: braeburn apples (must be cold and very crunchy) and any fresh fruit juice.

unhealthy craving: bloody birdseye potato waffles, I haven't eaten these since I was about 10 but I woke up in the middle of the night a couple of weeks ago and just needed them. Lovely OH bought boxes of them the next day, they're waffly versatile!

so far I've put on 8lbs and I'm only 12+6 weeks, mostly boobs though (and god are they sore!). I'm at a healthy BMI of 19 for the first time in years but bit scared of carrying on at this rate...

anyabanya · 03/08/2010 05:08

craved oranges which was strange as I loathe them. Tinned peaches, and toasted ham and cheese sandwiches (was vegan for year until that craving derailed me)

Unbuffy · 03/08/2010 09:21

Pg 1: raspberries (tons and tons) and full fat milk, very cold. And cranberry juice and fizzy water

This time: peanut butter, Coke and (oooh the very idea here is making me dribble but try to to be sick ladies) fruit scones with Marmite and sometimes clotted cream on top. Oh, and the smell of toast (can't eat the stuff at the moment as it makes me sick, but it's not fair, I WANT to)

But I put on masses of weight last time and not so much (so far) this.

Jenko77 · 03/08/2010 09:23

Only craving so far has been for BBQ ribs..... Mmmmmm ribs...... . Had a couple of weeks when I just had to have them as soon as I got home from work, but it seems to have died down a little now (although I still have a couple of boxes of them in the freezer in case of emergencies!!)

Oh, and a cheese and vegemite sandwich every lunchtime, which DH makes for me.

MathsMadMummy · 03/08/2010 09:30

ooh fun thread.

I was quite pleased in my 2nd PG that I suddenly found any fizzy drinks other than pepsi max/coke zero made me feel ill. that has stayed with me since the birth so I drink far less fizzy stuff now.

I also got hooked on peanut butter and nutella toast sandwiches

both pregnancies have had me obsessed with crisps and salty snacks - I figured it's because our general diet at home is very low salt so I needed to top up. that was my excuse anyway!

zipzap456 · 03/08/2010 10:11

I have had the same craving with all 4 of my pregnancies.....

The urge to chew CLEAN pan scourers (the yellow ones with a green top). I have had to throw them all away each time to stop myself chewing them.

Other than that I cant stop drinking banana milkshake

Its weird how our bodies work

Mahraih · 03/08/2010 10:23

I'm not sure ... my 'tastes' have changed slightly, but I've only had one or two episodes of I HAVE TO HAVE THIS NOW and then once I have it, I'm kind of ok and forget about it.

Healthiest cravings: lettuce, I seem to be eating loads. Mackeral.

Unhealthiest cravings: jelly sweets, brie (or any soft cheese not allowed by government guidelines, vats of hot chocolate covered in cream ...

Having just read this whole thread I now feel slightly better about my own current eating habits!

I only POAS on Saturday and so am still not entirely used to the idea of actually being pregnant just yet, but given the odd things I've have just had to have over the last couple of weeks I'm surprised I didn't think we might be expecting earlier than I did.

So far my list of must eats consists of:
Pickled gherkins (straight from the jar the minute I got home from work)
Tomatoes, they must be raw or lightly grilled (something I can't usually stand
Ginger jam
Peppermint tea
Halloumi cheese

Currently can't stand the thought of (never mind taste or smell):
Chocolate, which is making the bar of Cadbury's Turkish Delight in the cupboard feel very neglected
Wine (but not beer)
Cheese & Onion crisps (had to make DH brush his teeth after eating them!)

I'm just hoping I don't end up mirroring my own Mum, who when pregnant with me craved the smell of raw meat. This would be doubly disturbing for me as I'm
veggie and turn a rather charming shade of green in the meat aisle of the supermarket at the best of times!

Ibizadreams · 03/08/2010 17:02

Had a couple of weeks of mustard and/or horseradish on everything.

Now just want wasabi peas. But I can't find any strong enough

Tinned pears! I can't get enough! I have them with ice cream, chocolate chips and chocolate sauce.

But earlier in the pregnancy, it was Tesco's chicken and stuffing sandwiches.

whatifihadneverbothered · 03/08/2010 17:20

My unhealthiest was petrol, I was not aloud to fill up the car without my exh or mum being with me, I really could of just put the nozzle in my mouth and drank! even now I love the smell, lol.

Healthiest was pickled gerkins, and orange real juice ice lolly's, and cucumbers, I used to eat at least four whole ones a day.

SaraL77 · 04/08/2010 09:49

1st pregnancy cravings were branston pickle (especially in tuna melts) eggs, cheese, salty crisps

2nd pregnancy is cheese again, eggs (have them hard boiled but so wish I could have runny!), noodles- I'm loving sainsburys own instant chicken noodles- like super noodles, salty crackers, babybels -yum!

oh and with both pregnancies a bowl of weetabix almost every night before bed!

cheekymonkeyno3 · 04/08/2010 10:40

1st pregnancy was green olives out of the jar

2nd pregnancy lemons - peeled like oranges about 3 at a time.

3rd 28 weeks and haven't had any real serious cravings yet, not like the others anyway but i have had to have sugar puffs nearly every day. with or without milk does that count?

coraltoes · 04/08/2010 12:06

oh my cravings are not constant, i can crave something manically for an hour then not want to look at it ever again!
Last night i had to have those instant chinese noodle soups (a bit like super noodles), other times it is rice pudding or rhubarb fool or skittles or ice cold apples from the fridge...it really does vary. So far nothing too srange, certainly no car licking! But i do think it is only a matter of time. eg: just eaten my baked potato lunch with beans and cheese and fancied nothing more than a few pineapple chunks on top...

finding juice a lot more appetising than water at the mo...especially cheapy carton apple juice!
