Breast lump in week 28!

I have developed a sore breast lump on the left. I am in week 28 and wondered if it was normal to get lumpy breasts at this stage or should I just go straight to the dr's. I have got so used to everything being put down to 'Hormones' I don't want to over react. Any advise is welcome!

Go. It will almost certainly be nothing but take it seriously. It can't do any harm. Keep an eye on it too. Going to your Gp is not overreacting.

I agree with Aloha. I think lumps and bumps are fairly common in pregnancy (correct me someone if I'm wrong) but it's always worth getting it checked out.

Sheelyk - it is not over reacting to get a breast lump checked out during pregnancy. Please make an appointment - it is probably nothing to worry about but it is the doctor who should tell you that.

I developed a breast lump on my right side around about the same time as you shellyk. I left it thinking it was nothing but then noticed it got bigger once i started breast feeding, the doctor presumed it was a blocked milk duct and put me on antibiotics which didn't clear it up so i was referred to the hospital for tests. A sample was taken from the lump and i was given the results on the day - clear! Two years on i still have the small lump (i've just had another baby and am breastfeeding) so i think alot of it is due to hormones but do get it checked out for your own peace of mind.

Thanks for your messages, I went to the GP and he thought it was an absess, started on antibiotics and will go back on Tuesday to see him. If it hasn't gone they will do an ultrasound just to check it isn't anything nasty.
