Hello, not felt much movement today and if it carries on i need to know who i ring/ what to do, i never had a problem with ds so never remembered to ask mw. Im 30+2 weeks. I reckon i can feel her back which would explain it and i shone a torch on my tummy earlier and she went mad with the kicking. Im abit paranoid still though as not felt her enough IMO.
TIA

Lie on your side for half an hour reading and see if she wakes up. If not, call the maternity unit and ask to speak to the duty midwife.

Ok thanks, i will try it.

Have a sugary snack or drink then do exactly as whomovedmychocolate says. You should feel about 10 movements in an hour - so approx five in half an hour. Unless DC has a good wiggle in the next half hour then phone the maternity unit.

Incidentally - don't panic. This does happen sometimes and is no more than a long nap

Happened to me last time (at 33 weeks) and I rang the maternity unit/labour ward, went in and was monitored - she didn'tmove for about 8 hrs but all was well and we were sent home to start a 10 movements a day sticker chart!

ThatDamnDog · 01/08/2010 19:47

Yes, try an ice-cold drink too. I used to lean against the kitchen sink and bang cutlery in it to wake him up

addie81 · 01/08/2010 19:57

Can I just second the comment re not panicking! I am almost exactly as far along as you - last week I didn't feel any movement for a day and went to the maternity unit for a scan - my baby was in fact wiggling away - I just couldn't feel it because she had switched from head down to breach and was kicking against the placenta whereas before she was kicking me straight in the ribs! I am sure you little one is fine.

WorrisomeHeart · 01/08/2010 20:45

Hi tyson - I am 29+6 and had exactly the same experience on Friday - I think he had moved to kick the placenta because he was very quiet all day. As soon as I got home from work and had a cold drink and lay down he was back to his normal kung-fu self. Having said that, don't hold back from calling the hospital if the baby still doesn't move after trying that - much better to be sent away after a good monitoring then to keep worrying about it. Hope all is well

if worried call the maternity unit
if very worried then go to the hospital and they'll usually send you up to the mat unit to be monitored

whomovedmychocolate · 01/08/2010 20:50

I was monitored DAILY for four weeks with DD because she didn't kick every morning for four hours every day and every day I panicked. When she came out, come 10am she would conk out on my lap till 2pm
