Ladies, when did your innie become an outie?

28 weeks and my bellybutton is showing no signs of budging. I know it's weird but I've been looking forward to it. So - when did yours go? Anyone whose bellybutton never went?

Ooh, and does it hurt?!

Mine did at around 20 weeks. I think I have a hernia from last time. Really hate the sight of it.

kittyonthebeam · 01/08/2010 18:47

No one will poke my belly button or I will go ballistic. Gross...

cinnamongreyhound · 01/08/2010 19:53

Mine didn't with first but he was back to back. Is definately shallower this time but still an innie at 36 weeks, this baby is in a better position though so there's still time I guess!

i can't remember.... i think it must've been around 30 weeks with ds1 and ds3

never popped out with ds2 because he was back to back

Jacksmybaby · 02/08/2010 09:31

Mine never did last time, and touch wood hasn't so far this time (nearly 30wks) although it is stretched and shallower.

My theory is that it's more likely to pop out on very slim ladies as they have no layer of tummy fat insulating it? Does anyone else's experience back this up?

PixieCake · 02/08/2010 09:56

Jacksmybaby - loving your theory! Plan to use it as 'fact' from now on if I get any more comments about my outie!

much as i'd like to say i was very slim.... um no!
well, not fat, but not thin either

ooosabeauta · 02/08/2010 16:17

Mine didn't last time and he was back-to-back, didn't know that was a reason for it though, and hasn't this time either at 32 weeks but thought this one's in a better position so far. Interesting. Will ask midwife on Thursday about that theory!

Life is unfair! Plasticspoon I cannot believe you are waiting for your belly button to become an outie. Mine semi-turned about 4 weeks ago (I am 28 weeks) and I think it has been properly protruding for a couple of weeks now.

I find it totally offensive. I have always hated outies. I even remember being repulsed by other children's in the changing rooms for games at school.

In fact, I even thought about putting plaster on it this morning to disguise it, but then you would see the plaster and that would look even weirder. And I am clearly partly insane.

My DH keeps clocking me looking at it. He is now teasing me about it at least twice daily and keeps poking it. He is mean.

If you really want one, why don't you sellotape a jelly bean on there or something? It works for Jennifer Aniston's nips doesnt it

serenity · 02/08/2010 17:26

Never, because all my pregnancies were OP, so had nothing pushing against it to pop it out.

lilmissmummy · 02/08/2010 20:57

Mine went at 34 weeks with dc1 and 32 weeks with dc2 although I was much slimmer with them than I am with dc3 (currently at 29 weeks and have about 1cm to go!

It didnt hurt, I didnt even notice until my friend pointed it out!
