Ouch, pressure below and overdue

I have had sharp stabbing pains every time I woke up last night with a full bladder. Rang midwife and she said as I have no stinging/burning it is not a water infection, more likely to be baby moving.

Which is good as baby is OP and needs to move. However today I can not get comfortable. Strong bracken hicks and occasional sharp pains down below.

Main concern at the moment is a very strong nearly unbearable pressure underneath. It is too uncomfortable to sit down on the sofa OR the birth ball or even a cushion. I have been walking and leaning on the ball, lying on my left side for a nap.

My midwife is on holiday now, just wanted to check on Mumsnet that this pressure down below is just a late pregnancy thing and any suggestions as to what I can do about it. Currently swapping positions frequently, as my knees/ hips gives out.

i'm also overdue and have been having a lot of pressure down below. how overdue are you? and are you going to be getting induced?

Babieseverywhere · 30/07/2010 18:12

Only 3/4 days over, I can't be induced previous C-section, so waiting for baby to arrive on his/her own schedule.

oh right. i'm 2 days over but getting induced on thursday. so nervous! have you had the sweep? i have and i thought that was painfl but its probably nothing compared to being induced
well my midwife said its probably cause the baby is lying or leaning on a certain nerve which can feel painful and it's normal so it's nothing to worry about hun.

Babieseverywhere · 30/07/2010 18:29

No, I am not having a sweep either. I just want to wait until baby is ready to give us best chance of a non-medicalised birth.

My first was an inducement and I wouldn't volunteer for another one. That said plenty posters on here have better experiences than I did.

They are inducing you very early, only 8 days over. Just checking you know, you can wait until 14 days over(or more with expectant monitoring) if you are not in a rush to be induced...your choice

i think they're inducing me because i was in hospital on my due date with high blood pressure and had to stay in the night, although it went back down and all normal the next day. plus it might be to do with my age as i'm 15.

Babieseverywhere · 30/07/2010 21:51

All the best with your inducement on Thursday, hope it goes fast and well for you

thankyou, but i'm still very scared don't think i'll be able to cope

TigerFeet · 30/07/2010 22:09

BE, the pain is what's technically known as Knitting Needles Up yer Fanjo (KNUF) and is completely normal.

Hopefully it's being caused by pressure on your cervix. A full bladder will only exacerbate it.

Off to bed now but will ring you tomorrow

Jenny95, don't be scared (easy for me to say I know). You'll be fine. I wish you lots of luck

Thankyou TigerFeet

Cheers TF, hopefully a sign that baby is engaged again ?!

Jenny, How about speaking to your midwife about how you feel. She should be able to talk through inducement options and pain relief.
