Ok - I realise I can dress my baby in whatever I want - but is it odd to dress newborn girl in blue?

Just seen adorable outfit online, in sale, that i know my DH will LOVE - but don't know sex of baby - and outfit is blue.... so debating issue in head, but didn't come up with answer!

Just buy it! You are overthinking this.

Why not? It's a nice colour, suits most people of either sex, and babies look lovely in blue. Don't forget that until early 20th century, people felt that (pale) blue was a gentle colour appropriate for small girls, and that pink (watery red) was a strong, masculine colour just right for little boys.

If you're worrying that people will peer into your pram and get the sex wrong, don't. Total strangers will often get the sex wrong regardless of whatever you put your baby in (unless you are very very insecure about gender and have put a girl into barbie pink everything with 'Daddy's Little Girl' on the front in pink glitter!. Or a boy into blue and camoflague with 'Here comes a little monster' on the front...). Does it matter? Your family and friends will obviously know what flavour of baby you have, and that's the important bit!

DC2 will be in blues, browns, greens, orange etc because he/she will be wearing DS's cast-offs!
