Maternity bras - never have I been so uncomfortable!

Hello . I am 28 weeks pregnant and since the start back in February my chest has been steadily increasing in size - as expected. I've been to M&S a couple of times to be measured for bras and each time the ones I am encouraged feel comfy at the time but having worn them all day they don't seem to really fit. I'm a bit annoyed but mainly fed up that I'm not comfy in my clothes. Interestingly the advice I've been given varies wildly. Anyone know of somewhere else I can get measured where they are actually good? London or Kent sort of area. Thank you!

You poor thing! I was disappointed in the service at M&S and Mothercare with DS1, so with DS2 I went to John Lewis. The NCT also does maternity bras and you should be able to find a local advisor who will measure you and let you try on various styles to determine the best fit.

Now's the time you really need to look after your boobs because they're going to come into their own soon.

I found "soft" sports bras very comfortable and easy to come by (I needed a new size very few weeks, so got them from Primark). Didn;t think much of the servicre in M&S, Mothecare or Jojomaman. But I do recommend the NCT bra fitting service on behalf of s friend who used it - lady comes roudn to your house to measure you up etc. Ring 08458 100 100.

yes, I'm rather larger chested (about a G cup before being pg...goodness knows if they'll even sell bras in my size if I get much bigger) and after years of getting fitted in different m and s/debenhams/john lewis branches I felt annoyed that they'd fit me with bras that felt lovely in the shop when trying on, but I'd get bad aches and rubbing when wearing them all day.

I now get all of my bras from Rigby and Pellar. I go to the one in bluewater. They are really good and knowledgable and not always super pricey (my wedding bra was about £30!). They have always fitted me with the best fitting bras and take time to try on heaps until they find one that fits me well. Having said that they are more expensive than m and s (haven't yet felt up to buying pregnancy bras due to bad ms but hope to in a few weeks take a trip there so can't say how much their maternity bras are at present), but personally I'd much rather have a couple of well fitted bras and wash them regularly than spend probably more on more high street bras that don't fit right.

My MIL has had problems being badly fitted for bras in m and s and she tried to take them back on the grounds that she was fitted wrong and they were really stuffy about it and refused - I once (in all my tons of bras I've brought in rigby and pellar) had issues with a sports bra being too 'bouncy' for me and took it back weeks after buying it to show them how it didn't fit right and I got a new one in a different size with no quibble.

You can turn up and possibly have to wait to be seen by one of the ladies there or you can ring up beforehand and book a time slot so you know someone will be ready to help you.

M and S only go up to an H I think- i was a J with my last pregnancy- I went to a specialised local shop...but I live on the Northumberland border- we have a lady up here called 'Sadie the bra lady' and she sorted me out.

Agree you need a 'proper' bra fitting service.

I go to Bravissimo these days- have always seemed pretty good

Can you google for local specialist shops/ It may be worth it..hth
