Please someone else tell me they are knackered.
Not just normal knackered, but properly exhausted.

I am 24 weeks pg and have a 3.5 year old & I work 16 hours a week in retail.
I worked FT in retail when pg with DS & I am sure I was never this tiered before.

I'm going round the bend. The slightest bit of exhertion eg. putting washing on the line = 20 mins of lying down knackered.

I've taken this week off work sick to try and pull myself together, but so far I'm as knackered as ever.
I need to go into town and get some bits but the thought of taking my son in with me & dealing with him just being a three year old in a supermarket is enough to put me off.

I have constant heartburn and mild spd.
I can't wait for the next 16 weeks to fly past.
I am being a rubbish mum at the moment. I just want my energy back.

Please tell me I am not the only person like this.

Thanks for your reply inzidoodle!

You poor thing being on crutches with a small child must be a nightmare. Hopefully you will be back to normal once your baby arrives.

I've got a blood test on Thursday morning (for gestational diabetes - ooooh, this pregnancy malarky is fun!!) but I think I will ask them to test my iron levels as well as its the only thing I can think of which could be making me this exhausted.

Not to offend you - but I am so pleased I'm not the only one who is knackered like this!
I am worried that RL people will just think I am lazy.

Yep, snap. I had a day off sick on Monday too. It's my second pregnancy too - I think that's the key part. I expect in my first pg I spent most of the weekend sleeping / relaxing but once you've got a toddler you rarely get that down time.
I was working full time the first time round and now work 4 days a week - that day off with DD is lovely but completely exhausting. Working is definitely easier.

I do find it actually a bit better if you I do get out and do stuff (within reason) rather than sitting around the house though - the time goes quicker (although I hate myself for wishing away the time til bedtime sometimes) and I think sitting around on the sofa does make you feel more tired than being out and about a bit, even if it is only to the shops.

Plumm · 28/07/2010 13:18

I came on to post exactly the same thing. I'm only 11 weeks but have been exhausted for the past 5 weeks.

I worked full time and had a 1.5 hour commute both ways during my first pg but didn't feel this exhaustion - I'm lucky that my 4 year old can keep herself amused as I needed a nap just 2 hours after getting up this morning (and we slept in until 9).

When i went for my booking in a apt the midwife said I've got excessively low blood pressure which might be something to do with it, so I'm hoping this will pass afte 12 weeks. I don't think i can stand it for the rest of my pregnancy!

LouM10 · 28/07/2010 13:39

I am o n the sick with low b.p, sleeping at least 9 hrs every night, and still feel like I've got a hangover when I wake up. Literally from the moment I wake up till I go back to bed, I feel I can't keep my eyes open. Someone commented on my post, saying to take a proper nap in bed for an hr in the pm. Going to try that when I get back from docs today.

PrivetDancer · 28/07/2010 13:46

Interesting about the low bp - I keep getting very faint / dizzy and spots in front of my eyes, that can be low bp too, can't it.

balletmoo · 28/07/2010 13:46

Yup, me too, but unlike you this is my first PG!!! Flip, I must be rubbish...

I've made it in to work pretty much every day, but it's the heat that is getting me, and at 29 weeks, I'm starting to feel like I'm lugging a bag of lead around...

It tends to ease off in the afternoon for me a bit though. Mornings are a total write-off though.

veyron · 28/07/2010 13:48

Me too, I'm 26weeks and have just come back to work today after being signed off with 'pregnancy related exhastion'for 1 week. I am 29 with a dd7 and I work full time 7.30am - 4.00 Monday to Friday. I spent the week relaxing and also doing a few little bits (doctors orders) and i still feel absolutley bushed, have a MW apt tomorow and i should get the results of my blood tests - My last day at work before two weeks a/l and then ML will be 27th Aug (I just don't know how i'll cope till then!) I think alot of my exhastion is to do with the heat I am also so breathless my last pg with DD7 was so much easier (she was born at the beginning of february)

LouM10 · 28/07/2010 13:52

I've been getting floaters and also feeling sick, just the last 4 days. I think it may be high b.p, but I'm mentioning it to my docs this arvo. I'll let you know what she says

bleedingheart · 28/07/2010 13:52

You're not alone! Am 38 weeks and on my knees! I thought it was because I've got DS to run (waddle) around after as well as FT job but then found out I'd become anaemic too. I've forgotten how to spell and speak. Took me a good 40 seconds to remember how to type 'Okay baby' last week! The breathlessness is really getting to me! Hope we all feel better soon!

LouM10 · 28/07/2010 13:54

Oh yeah, and whenever I'm at the docs, my b.p is perfect unless I stand up, then it goes low. So if you go to your g.p's ask them to take it when you are standing too

kettlecrisps · 28/07/2010 14:00

Please go and ask midwife for a glucose tolerance test. All those symptoms are what I experienced and was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Sounds v. scary I know but once I was sorted out I felt so much better. It really is extremely common.

Other symptoms would be feeling very muddled in your thinking/trying to remember what it is you are trying to remember etc.!!!

Floaters, dizzy, exhaustion beyond normal pregnancy tiredness - I spent my whole time thinking surely everyone can't mean this when they say tired - they don't get yourself checked out.

kettlecrisps · 28/07/2010 14:04

OOh sorry just read through thread you are getting checked for gestational diabetes - Good. I only came out as borderline reading of 7.00 but my body was more sensitive so I was getting very bad symptoms etc. They scanned me and said baby bit big go on insulin even though your reading is only borderline.

So trust your instincts and not just the results you get.

Good luck.

CrapSuzette · 28/07/2010 14:04

You're not alone! I have 3.5 year old DTs. I think the cumulative effects of almost 4 years of rubbish sleep (they do sleep through, but catch every lurg going at nursery now); the emotional exhaustion of refereeing, negotiating, chasing them around and keeping them out of mischief - never name being self-employed and trying to hit deadlines and run a house - has finally caught up with me.
Even getting them dressed and out to the park seems like I'm gearing up to run a Marathon.
DH very helpful, but he's snowed under at work all the time and does all he can when he's at home.
3.5 is a challenging age, and you're coping with it while you're pg. You're not a rubbish mum at all! You're just knackered.
I do feel a rubbish mum at times, though. I am so tired and every bone in my body hurts and I count the hours until bedtime. I'd give anything to curl up in bed right now... fat chance.

elportodelgato · 28/07/2010 14:18

oh my god, I have to show my DH this thread, i don't think he gets how tired I am ALL THE TIME. I am 17 weeks, my DD is 2.2, I work fulltime and bloody hell I feel like death. Partly it's my commute which is an hour each way, but mainly it's that even the smallest of household chores leaves me lying on the sofa crying with exhaustion. I don't think anything is as bad as the knackeredness of pregnancy and if I could only get DD to willingly walk up and down the stairs on her own rather than wanting me to carry her, I'd probably feel a lot better. Good luck all, it won't be forever x

Lizzzombie · 29/07/2010 09:38

Yay!
We are not alone.
Thanks for all your replies.

loum10 are 'floaters' spots in your eyes? Or are you referring to something else?

OP posts:
LouM10 · 29/07/2010 15:35

Yeah white and black spots. Went to GP's and I have a floater in my left eye, but she said they could also be caused by high bp as my bottom number was 88 and she said if it goes above 90 then it is a problem. Just got to tell my mw on Mon so she can keep an eye on it.

She also said floaters aren't a problem unless associated with bad headaches or problems with vision so nothing to worry about Yay
