Piles/haemeroids & varicose veins

Just recently I have developed small raised clumps of varicose veins on the calves of my legs and above my knees.
Also my labia has become extremely swollen, and there are protruding veins.Big purple ones
This is my second pregnancy in as many years.
I am so ashamed that I cannot bring myself to make love with my husband.
I want to know,is there anything I can do to ease the problem or cure them. Will they ever go away?I am only 22 and the thought of never wearing a skirt or a dress again because of my old lady legs, fills me with dread.I am beginning to hate my body,I just want a way to make it all better.

How far into your pregnancy are you and are they giving you discomfort?

A friend of mine got terrible varicose veins with both of her pregnancies. she wore thick support hose which she said helped (even in the summer!)

When I had piles with my pregnancy sitting on an ice pack really helped

I had the same after my second pregnancy and went to my GP for help. I was told that as they were not causing pain, what I needed was a cosmetic proceedure - and I could not have this on the NHS.

I did point out that never being able to wear skirts/dresses for the rest of my life had led to a significant decline in confidence and change in my life-style, but this was dismissed..............

labial varicosity will disappear afterwards - don't worry

I am almost eight months pregnant.
I am not getting any pain in my legs. But in my nether regions I fee rather uncomfortable,it's like a pressure that feels like everything is going to push out at any second. My labia has started to rub the tops of my legs too which hurts unless I wear really big thick cotton knickers.
The midwife has told me to do pelvic floor excersizes, but I have done them all along and I don't think it is making much difference,if anything I think my pelvic floor is weakening.

Hi there. I'm nearly 36 weeks and totally sympathise with anyone suffering from piles. As if we haven't got enough to contend with! And it's not related to constipation because I'm not constipated. I started drinking a glass of watered down prune juice (DIS-GUSTING!) every morning which means that when I do go for a bowel movement, it's pretty easy - no straining for eg. I thought this would stop the piles but it hasn't = guess it must just be the pressure of the baby as they have not gone away - in fact they seem to be a permanent fixture, although the size goes up and down throughout the week! Been lucky with no varicose veins (yet) but do have a swollen labia / vagina. MW said this was again just down to the fact that baby is putting lots of pressure on me down there and not to worry, it would go once baby was born. I hope so!
Good luck with everything - hope it all works out for you and that you get to wear a skirt again! BTW, if anyone knows a good ointment for piles, I'd love to hear about it - am currently using prep H but not making much difference (have already tried anusol)
Thanks
