New mattresses for carrycots?

If you buy a second hand travel system, is it advised that you buy a new mattress to go in the carrycot part? If so, are new mattresses for carrycots fairly easy to get hold of?

Thanks.

Sorry not sure if you need a new one or not but i seen them today in mothercare £24.99 if that helps

there are plenty of websites that do them - some will make to size, or carry odd sizes - got one for my antique wooden crib online. Mothercare has a limited range of sizes and was really rather expensive when I looked there last month.

mamas and papas do carrycot mattresses, from £14+

here (hopefully!)

Can you machine wash the mattress you have already got and get it properly dry? If so, you dont need to buy a new one.

I got a new one for ours between ds's. I thought of it like cot matresses where it's advised that you get a new one.

Mothercare ordered it in for me - it wan't in-store or in their regular catalogue.

It was for a bebeconfort Windoo

Iwish- that's because you can't wash a cot mattress though, whereas you can wash (eg) a Bugaboo carrycot mattress quite successfully.

However, it does depend on what sort of condition it's in when you get it. Mine was immaculate but had it been stained or whatever, I prob would have got a new one.

Also, I took note that Bugaboo themselves say it's ok to wash it and use for second child.

I'd just get new to be honest.
I bought the silvercross 3D charcoal pram system & car seat (which was seperate) pricey but nicey

Washing would need to be done at a high enough temp to kill of any mould spores, as this is one of the issues of re-using a mattress that has been stored in an attic/garage (or that you don't know for sure how it's been stored).
