Hip pain?

Am getting more & more pain my hips & lower back. I had back pain in other pregnancies but not the hips. It comes when I stand/ walk for long or sit in one position. They then sort of seize up and make it v difficult to get moving again.

Is it worth speaking to Dr? Saw them last week but had had a massage 2 days before which had relieved it so didn't bother. I have some exercises already which help but don't solve it.

may be spd that can be in the hips worth seeing gp

Was hoping people would say it didn't sound like SPD! Hadn't heard of it before the others & seems to be loads on my ante natal thread.

Did just get stuck trying to get out of bed.couldn't get my feet moving.

I'm afraid it does sound like spd or pgp (pelvic girdle pain) Am going through it for the third time at the moment, I'm now 25 weeks. Ask your gp or midwife to refer you to physio. I had a brilliant one who recommneded a Serola Sacroiliac belt. Without it the pain in my back goes round to my hip and I can't move. Also saw a useless physio in my first pregnancy so think it's luck of the draw. Have also been using ice on lower back for 10 mins every 2 hours which is like taking a painkiller. Hope that helps.

Think I might see gp . Going to end up signed off again though as I work on 3rd floor.

Pelvic Girdle Pain? Lots of good information here. MW might be better than GP for a physio referral.

SPD isn't in the hips, but the same issues (too lax ligaments) can affect the hips as well as the SP joint and it usually comes under PGP (although some docs think of that as SI problems only!).

Physio can help, but must be done a lot. Also, making sure you don't sit on "bad" chairs at all, don't sit or stand for too long and being careful how you move can help. Any chair that makes your legs (and hips) roll outwards will worsen it, as will any chair that puts any strain on your hips - e.g. if your feet aren't flat on the floor, or if the chair seat has a raised rim on it.

I'm needing to spend plenty of time resting with my legs up. If I do that and all the above my hips are fine, even if the SPD is still an issue.

Sounds like a list of all the bad things at work! Struggled with stairs today & shouldn't have bothered gng out for lunch! First full day back today not looking too good

Your work should provide you with a pregnancy health & safety risk assessment and adapt your equipment or role accordingly.

I have an assessment but the only alternative to stairs is being off!
