Ow ow ow - keep pulling muscles in my uterus!

I keep pulling muscles in what is I assume my uterus (poor sense of own anatomy I'm afraid) and it fecking hurts.

I've taken the day off work as I was up all night in pain every time I moved. It doesn't stay, it's more intermittent, hurts for a while, then goes, then hurts again (ok, don't start panicking, I'm fairly certain these aren't contractions ), it's just really sharp pulling pains.

Is there anything I can do to stop it? I'm not sure what is causing it, probably tossing and turning but I just can't sleep comfortably at night.

I don't think you can really pull the uterine muscles as it's smooth muscle, not like the muscles you use to move.

You might be getting stretching pains from the round ligaments around the uterus stretching. Or you might have pulled your lower abdominal muscle.

It might be worth asking your GP or MW for a physio referral.

Do you mean the bits down the bottom of the bump - by your hips? Those are the ligaments which stretch under the weight - and Yes OW OW OW!

I always do it in my sleep and still now forget for about 10 second when I wake up that I am pregnant and do a huge big stretch and ouch!!

MassiveBumperlicious · 19/07/2010 15:39

Yes peppa, those are the ones. It fecking hurts! I could go to the physio, but I have already seen her 4 times this pregnancy so far! I will mention it to my midwife though.

I don't suppose there is much I can do about it, just lie still in bed for the next 10 weeks maybe

i do the same. on saturday night i turned over screamed in agony DH woke up saying sorry sorry, he thought he had elbowed me in his sleep !

The only thing I have found that helps is to actually remind myself to put my knees together and rotate slowly before I turn over.

Ow. And it really hurts when I sneeze!

buttonmoon78 · 19/07/2010 17:20

Have you considered it could be SPD? Worth asking gp / mw about.

DomesticG0ddess · 20/07/2010 09:52

Is it your first baby? I had this lots last time round, once I could hardly walk. It was definitely the ligaments though, not SPD. This time I have barely had it - obviously all the ligaments are all stretchy! The only thing you can do is be slow and careful, and avoid moving in ways that you know trigger it - brace and straighten yourself when you sneeze and cough, etc.

MassiveBumperlicious · 20/07/2010 19:32

No it's second, don't remember having it first time round. Oh yeah, sneezing in the wrong position will do it too! Slept much better with the aid of some co-codamol last night!
