30 weeks today... time to start preparing for the birth?

I am 30 weeks today and it has just dawned on me that I don't actually have all that long until this baby might arrive (especially as pretty much all babies in my family on the female side seem to be born at least 10 days/2 weeks early, if not earlier!)

I have started thinking about a hospital bag etc, but wondred what I need to start doing in terms of pelvic floor and perineal massage...

I suspect I should have started thinking about this before, but please can someone educate me!

Should I be doing anything else? The baby is already head down (ceph) and is lying with its spine on my left and its legs kicking into my right hand side. Should it be turning so its spine is more facing out (i.e. less back to back)? Are there ways to get it to do this, or is it far too early?

Thank you!

Pelvic floor exercises can be started at any time and are best started asap!

AFAIK perineal massage should be done after 35 weeks - there's no point in doing it earlier.

Your baby will probably only start to get into its final position after 37 weeks, but it can be done right up to the birth.

its prob a good idea to start thinking about hosp bag etc,
but as far as baby position etc, my dd still moving in labour, very unlikely that ur baby will stay where it is, still plenty of room for bubs to shift around.

get going on ur pelvic floor!!

basically whatever makes u feel better in terms of preperation, u must b getting excited

Pelvic floor, pelvic floor, pelvic floor!

You could start getting stuff together for your hospital bag now, though you will unpack and repack it a dozen times between now and going into labour .

You can wait till the last couple of weeks to worry about whether baby should be in a better position, but as previous posters have said, they move during labour anyway, so you can spend two weeks on all fours trying to shift them round and it's a complete waste of effort!

Start your pelvic floors today. I didn't bother in my first pregnancy and paid for it; was much better at them in second pregnancy and reaped the benefits. Don't get put off by the books that tell you you have to do a zillion a day to see any benefit. Just do 'sets' of 10 whenever you remember throughout the day.
