Ok I still have about 2 months til we fly out but by then I will be in my 33rd week, I didnt find out til our scan I was almost 2 weeks further than we thought!

The trip is to Granada Spain and was sprung upon us December, a treat from friends for doing well in our business and it was a case of once booked you couldnt back out, they would lose their money on flights and hotel!
Problem is even tho DP has been so cock sure our travel insurance would cover me seeing as we pay for it via our bank
'NatWest Advantage Gold Travel Insurance' I just had a look and it says they will not cover me once I am under 8 weeks of my due date and I will be 7

Does anyone know of a not to OTT priced company that would cover me?

Hi!
Try direct-travel as they always seem to be good for covering pre exsisting conditions at a good price.
You will need to get a doctors note and its worth checking the airline regs as some require the doctors note to be less than 5 days old to travel (might've been easyjet) so you may need to see a doctor over there to be allowed to fly home or something silly.

Have fun

There's another thread going on this somewhere in here - Direct got a bad review from someone who had had to claim. Ravenhall were suggested to me as they specialise in this sort of thing.

Rinnyx · 16/07/2010 14:46

Yeah I didnt see that other topic til this morning

The airline will take me up to 36 weeks with a Dr note thankfully just cant believe our current Travel Insurance will not cover me even tho I will be just one week over

I'm with MoreThan and when I phoned up to tell them I was preg they said it didn't make any difference. Don't know if that is the same for taking out a new policy though, but might be worth asking.

I used essential travel which said that it will accept you if your carrier is willing to take you.

Hi. I've just had to cancel a holiday to Turkey that I was due to take when I was 30 weeks pregnant. I had a problem getting a doctor to sign me a note saying I was fit to fly! They didn't seem keen to take the risk! Turkey is further than Spain I suppose and you are probably younger than me!! (40) My insurance was through my bank too (HSBC) and they seem to cover everything. Good luck.

I used Ravenhall when I travelled during pregnancy. Make sure your policy will cover medical expenses for the baby if born early as well as for you.

Hey Rinnyx - I would suggest checking out www.travelinsurance.org Not sure if they'll have a company that will give you coverage for sure, but that's the most informative site I've found for travel insurance so might be a good place to start! Good luck :)

Hmm sorry did't put the link in correctly I don't think - it's www.travelinsurance.org - hope that works!

I found Ravenhall very unhelpful actually. I had a pre-existing condition (nothing to do with pregnancy) which had never been a problem at all and they turned my down for insurance and were rather rude I felt.

I just wanted to point out that whatever policy you take out you should check that it would also cover the baby's care if it was born early. If you did give birth and weren't covered you would only be entitled to the basic cover of the EHIC - which would not cover repatriation etc.

I first took out a policy with the AA and when I checked with them they told me they wouldn't cover the baby so I cancelled that policy, rang around some other companies and ended up with Insureandgo who confirmed that they would cover the baby too.
