I am 11+4 and I am constantly tired and I'm soooo fed up with it. I am lucky enough not to be working at the moment as I have just moved from Oxfordshire to Devon, but feel so guilty about constantly nodding off.

My constant nausea is beginning to ease, although as soon as I do any type of activity (even just going to the shop) it comes back, along with the overwhelming fatigue.

Is this normal for this stage of pregnancy? I have so many boxes to unpack and my dd's bedroom to tidy, but even the thought of doing it makes me tired and I feel really guilty for not doing much. My dp works full time and helps out alot, although I am making sure that the basics such as washing up, laundry and cooking are done. Is there anything I can do to perk myself up a bit?

Very normal. Just wait it out - it should get better.

The exhaustion is crushing isn't it?

I'm now 34 weeks and although have been extremely tired at times the weeks around the 10-14 week mark were the worst.

Hopefully you'll feel better soon and have bursts of energy.

Mam2Be · 14/07/2010 12:00

Hi Rocklover,

This is perfectly normal I felt exactly the same and struggled to stay awake throughout the day and completely crashed by 8pm. It does ease though and you'll find you have alot more energy throughout your second trimester (make the most of this!). I'm now 4 weeks into my 3rd trimester and the tiredness is back throughout the day which isn't helped by broken sleep throughout the night. Please don't feel guilty about nodding off, it's okay and it happens to us all just get through the first trimester and make up for all those little jobs you haven't done in the 2nd!

Rocklover · 14/07/2010 12:01

I'm glad it's normal, I can't remember how I was with dd. I am awe of those working at this stage, I would be asleep at my desk! I am usually a teeny bit on the lazy side (I admit it ), but this is just ridiculous lol.

I am looking forward to the energy bursts!

I had to tell people at work before the 12 weeks mark because otherwise they would have thought I had a drink problem due to spending so much time in the toilets at work falling asleep.

Never made it past 9pm until about 15 weeks.

Rocklover · 14/07/2010 12:46

Pickle I always feel bad that I don't have to work, because I admire ladies like you. I'd be rubbish!

That makes me sound like a lady wot lunches or something, I'm definitely not lol. Just happens that this preg has coincided with me moving area and the chances of me getting a job being preg in this economic climate is sadly pretty much nil.

Ugh I'm 15 weeks and the last two weeks have been horrendous.

I find that some days I think I'm ok, so will rush around doing jobs, then the next day I can't lift my head off the pillow or even write my own name.

Thankfully I feel less sick during the day now, but if I don't go to bed by 7pm it comes back big time.

massive whinge

Rocklover · 14/07/2010 13:34

You see I can't go to bed early for 2 annoying reasons:

a) because I just end up going for a pee several times and can't settle, and b) if I do fall asleep I will wake up at around 3am and then stay awake until I get up.

And I still feel tired.

Hello

37w pg and was so tired last night I cried with frustration. So tired I couldn't sleep. Was still up at 2.30am

Nightmare, isn't it

japhrimel · 14/07/2010 15:12

It's normal I think. I'm now 18 weeks and although it's eased a bit, I still can;t do much.

RebekahAndBoys · 14/07/2010 16:00

I'm expecting my 3rd baby (about 8 weeks pregnant) and I'm exhausted! It's worse this time because I have a 3 year old and an 18 month old to run around after so I don't get to nap.

notnowbernard - I remember clearly crying my eyes out when I was about 37 weeks pregnant with DS1, just because I was so tired I had to go to bed but I was so uncomfortable I just couldn't. It's horrible but it will be over soon! And you'll have your baby

notnowbernard · 14/07/2010 16:06

Rebekah - thanks

I know it will be over soon

But like you this is no.3 so no let-up really

But... BONUS - got back from school-run and DP home early , and has taken the DC out. Huzzah!

RebekahAndBoys · 14/07/2010 16:17

Fantastic! My DH keeps forgetting I'm pregnant at the moment so I'm not getting any help at all yet... Hopefully when I get a bump he'll get better

ledkr · 14/07/2010 16:17

Ditto i am 10.5 weeks and have never felt so tired. My eyes actually sting and are red.I go to bed very early and just pee every 15mins till i nod off haha thought it felt better last 2 days but def bad today but have had two late nights so maybe just that.Gotta go with the flow and just chill i am normally very house proud but have just left it within reason work is hard but i sit down asap dd is 8 so quite self sufficient but lots of clubs etc so running about alot. In fact just off to ballet now phew

notnowbernard · 14/07/2010 16:19

Yes, that sounds familiar

I found that whingeing to full capacity finally got the message through that I was, in fact, carrying his child

I think 3rd time round the novelty had well and truly worn off

He has started getting excited in the last 2 or 3 weeks...
