Why do I feel like I've been kicked in the fanjo?

I'm 23+2 with dc2. The last couple of days I've been getting a real pressure in my pelvic area. It feels like I've been kicked in the fanjo. Dc2 was transverse at the anomoly scan and I have a low placenta. I think Dc has turned as I'm getting a lot of kicks down low so maybe that's causing the bruised feeling?

Is this normal? My MW is not the most supportive person I've ever encountered so don't really want to waste her time. And, sorry for tmi, if I go to the loo, I daren't er.... strain as it feels like I'd push the baby out!

Anybody else experienced this?

Yep...don't want to depress you but sounds like you have SPD. It is usually developed in the second trimester. I had it for weeks before I bothered mentioning to the midwife, who then diagnosed me. I am 38 weeks now and it is really bloody painful, I have been to the physio and been given a lovely pelvic support belt to wear, and offered crutches, but there's not a lot else they can do.

Not sure if this does sound like SPD to be honest (sorry jendaisy) I had severe, severe SPD (to the point where it affects me now and DS is 2.6) and this is not how it started.,

(wishful thinking as SPD is horrible and wouldn't want to wish it on you)

Does it feel like your pelvis is being pulled apart?

i know this sounds funny - but i had an unconfortable feeling, like you describe, and when i went to the docs she felt my tummy and i was ...... constipated! I had no idea, and didnt really believe her. However a course of lactulose did the trick within 24 hours and i was more confortable. Same thinghappened again a few weeks later, more lactulose and i felt better again withing 24hours. She said that it a combination of the baby pressure, being bunged up etc etc.
I thought it was a urine infection, but they tested for this and it wasnt.

Of course it might not be...I'm no expert...but being kicked in the fanjo was the exact sensation I was complaining of for weeks until I was diagnosed. Mine is pretty bad but I can still shuffle around very slowly. It's worth checking with the midwife to see what she thinks. When I went to the physio she pointed out on a fake pelvis where my pain was and what she was describing was spot on so I am in no doubt that that's what I have. I think it affects different people in different ways.

It's sounds similar to what I've had some of the time with my SPD too.

Well I'm definately not constipated at the moment...... but might get checked by the Doctor to rule out uti or thrush or something and then talk to the MW if I get the all clear from the DR. I know baby is kicking really low down.

Thanks for all your advice.

I experienced that around 20wks and the MW diagnosed it as Symphysis (I think that's the new term for SPD).

She referred me to an osteopath but I never went as it got better thankfully (now 39+2 and not a twinge). I stopped carrying DD1, slept with a pillow between my legs, took more care about standing up slowly and reduced how much I was walking.

Go back to your MW or GP and get a referral to see a specialist just to be sure.

Good luck.

Yep - sounds like SPD to me too. Sorry.

I've got a terrible bruising feeling on the very front of my bits. Feels like I've got a massive bruise that something is constantly putting pressure on. It gets so bad, particularly if I'm on my feet a lot that I'm having to sit down all the time. I had it towards end of pg with DS & was told it was probably SPD but as only few weeks to go to grin & bear it. This time it started at about 20wk & I also have a slight swelling in the area. Told mw this time & it turns out to be a hernia in my groin that they can't do anything about & should just go once DC born! I have no trouble going up stairs or sitting with legs spread. Mine is more walking/standing up/hanging around & I often feel like I need to hold my bits to ease the pressure!!
Think a lot of uneasiness during pg is put down to SPD but that isn't always the correct diagnosis as I have found out!!
