small bleed outside the sac???

Hi everyone, i had a scan today as my symptoms seamed to of gone and i was worried so called ,my EPU for advice and asked me to come down for a scan.

Baby was very active measured exact for dates 8+6 weeks but they said there was a small bleed outside the sac, i have read up about (bad idea) but it seams that small bleeds are ok and they will usually go away on there own.

I just wanted to know if anyone else had this and some reasurance please.

I had this too, everything was fine, don't worry. In fact with both my pgs I bled every 4 weeks up until 20 weeks, in the second one I had a scan which showed this 'bleed outside the sac' & now have very bonny 14 month dd2 to show for it.

oh thank u so much i thought it was just me.

i thankfully havent bled it was just picked up on the scan and i was told could increase risk of mc

I should add that I have a very bonny 2.9 yr old dd1 too!

That's interesting, I wasn't told that about mc, they just said it was reletively common but no-one really knows why it happens. In fact I had a very complicated & difficult pregnancy with dd2 but was specifically told that it was nothing to do with the earlier bleed.

I had this too, I live in Spain and they called it a heamatoma. Mine was big, twice as big as the baby and then got bigger and was three times the size of the baby. They said I would miscarry but I did not! I now have a very healthy 2 year old. They advised me to do nothing, no heavy lifting, ironing, even watching TV - bedrest only. I was very frightened at the time so I hope you are ok, I know how scary it is but actually, since it happened to me, I read up alot about it and then went private for scans and they told me it was fairly normal, nothing to worry about and the blood would be absorbed. After 3 weeks with the heamatoma growing, it started to shrink and the baby of course was getting bigger, after another 3 weeks it was gone and the baby was absolutely fine. It first came to light at 5 weeks when I started bleeding and finally went away by 12 weeks.

Try to relax, do as little as possible, really, and I am sure you will be fine, it sounds like a much smaller bleed than mine and I do think it is very common.

No this is my 3 rd baby, never had early scans with both of them so may well of had one with them and not known.

I read up it could be bad if its a big bleed but luckily mine is small.

the lady who did my scan said it was common and when i saw the doctor afer he said it was common BUT could cause mc but as my baby seams ok i should be fine, but i cant help worrying, after getting great news that my baby is so far so good and my chance of mc is reduced i then get slammed with this and feel like im at sqaure 1.

Well, it's the doctor's job to let you know all the possibilities I suppose but really don't let it prey on your mind too much. As I understand it seeing a heart beat (let alone an active baby!) at 8 weeks means that the risk of mc is less than 1/20 (usually quoted as 1/5 otherwise) so I'm sure overall your risk is still much lower. It's so hard not to get worried though, I know.

Thank you, he did say that because he saw it he had to tell me, i keep annoying me husband saying are you sure he said not to worry lol, glad someone else was with me otherwise im sure i would make things up in my own head lol.

I had this too at 9 weeks and it scared me a lot, but it had completely gone by my 12 week scan - in fact if I'd never had the 9 week scan I would never have known anything about it.

My baby is now sleeping here next to me and is absolutely fine

I was very anxious too, but the fact that you saw a heartbeat is really good. Also symptoms come and go over the first few weeks, that really is normal. I hope things continue to go OK for you.
