HI

We have decided to use reusable nappies and just been down to our local green nappy shop - omg the choices that are out there has blown my mind.
Has anyone used the reusable ones and if so which did they prefer??
We have looked at totbots but they seem to have had a few bad reviews about leakage.I am tempted to just to use good old fashioned terrys

Oh my gosh!!

Let me help;

Try these threads, shopping list, I asked for an idiots guide to reusables. Heres one about nappy choice.

Otherwise go on the nappy boards, those ladies know everything. They've been really helpful to me.

For what it's worth, I've decided to go with a combination of Bumgenius pockets, tots bots cotton shaped nappies with Motherease wraps and some odds of cute printed ones like Bambooty and Cushie Tushies.

Try Cheeks and Cherries as an example of one of the websites. They've got some lovely lovely stuff there.

What for it's worth, terries do seem to be good. If you do go for that option, get the Motherease wraps. They have a reputation of being bombproof especially with breast feeding poop.

Hope this helps.

reusables are a mine field but great once you get into it and figure out what will work for you.

Do you have a local real nappy network who let you borrow a wide choice to start with and can be great for advice?

I think one thing to remember is that no nappies are completely 100% leak free including disposables when faced with some of the poop they have to contend with.

I used bambino mio nappies with a variety of wraps liked the first size nappies washed well and dried quickly but the size 2 ones did take a long time to dry which was a bit of a pain.

i had motherease reusables and they didn't leak at all, much better than pampers. The only problem was that I couldn't get them dry on the line if we didn't have the heating on. You really need a tumble dryer to finish them off in spring and autumn.

I think the easiest nappies for a beginner are Bumgenius as they are all in one so don't need a seperate wrap, they fasten with velcro so go on just like a disposable and fit from 8-35lb so birth til potty training. the Version 3 ones are on sale in a lot of online shops as they've brought out a new version which is only slightly different.

If you want a 2 part system so nappy and wrap go for Little lambs they are a bit bulky on a newborn but bombproof.

I strongly advise you a) don't buy a birth to potty kit as the nappy may not suit and you'll be stuck with 20 of them and b) don't buy any of the ones available in mothercare, boots etc eg bambino mio, smart nappy as they are rubbish.

My fave online nappy shops are fill your pants, babipur and cheeks and cherries.

hope this helps x
