ds1 suddenly decided he wanted to try without drynites last monday, I woke him before i went to bed that night and got him to do a wee but since then he has gone through every night without waking and has been dry every morning. so now we have had 8 dry nights

dp told ds1 we would get him a present for being a big boy now so how long should we stipulate that he has to have been dry for? (bearing in mind also that he has a bor/sis due in less than 2 weeks)

and what would be a suitable present?
Hes 6.6 btw

I don't think you can stipulate a time frame for night dryness/rewards - it's largely a developmental process that most children have no control over.

Your DS is doing brilliantly, but beware of offering a reward after say 2 weeks of dry nights, as you may find he has the odd accident and may feel gutted if he feels he hasn't 'earned' his reward.

I would get him something now - reward the effort not the outcome.

Does he like balloons?
Would a big foil balloon for the past 8 nights work.
Then a standard latex balloon for each dry night in the future.

I used this reward for DS for a poo in the potty but he was a lot younger.
I would be tempted to aim for something you could afford to buy for every night for the next 3-6 months.

Perhaps a hot wheels voucher - 10 vouchers = 1 car, So an accident on the 9th night is not the end of the world.
