Hiya,

I'm new on here and was hoping for some advice. Read lots of the other posts which are really useful.

We started potty training ds1 about 10 weeks ago now, he started well, then a few not so good weeks etc. The last few weeks he has been much improved-mainly I think because he has finely cracked poo's. For the last 3 weeks he has had one dry week and an average of 2 wee accidents a week after, usually if tired or distracted playing with friends. He is 2yrs 1month....is this normal or whould he be more reliable by now? My mum and several others have said their kids got it in a week and that was it, no more accidents!

I don't want to put him back in nappies as generally he is very good, asks to go to the toilet, is dry at night and loves his big boy pants!! Is this something he will just grow out of? How long are his accidents likely to continue for?

Thank you xx

Hi I'm in a similar boat to you. From what I can gather accidents still happen for many months after you can say that they are trained. Like when there at indoor play centres or parties etc. Apparently reception class children have lots of accidents when they start school.
Sounds like he's doing brilliantly considering his age.

My ds is 3 1/2 and we have been potty training for 6 months. He still has accidents a couple of times a day. Think yourself lucky! Your ds sounds like he is doing really well. I wouldn't worry.

Thanks very much for your responces. Glad to hear I'm not the only one! Since last posting we've had lots of dry days but lots of times he is playing with friends he ends up with a damp patch at some point-not a full wee more like he starts and then stops himself. How would you react when this happens? Usually I just take him to the toilet to see if there is any more wee to come, and change him into clean clothes. Should I be more forceful? He doesnt seem particuarly bothered, just wants to get back and play asap with the other children!

Thank you xx
