potette plus

Today I have bought a potette plus for when I am eventually brave enough to go out with DD. I thought this would be better than the normal potty as it would be less bulky and because the bag things absorb the mess. I chose the more expensive one over the mothercare own because I thought the mothercare one didn't go together quick enough (and potette is also a toilet seat). The potette looked like it would go together quickly, however when I get it home and play with it (couldn't in shop due to type of packaging), I find the legs really stiff when clicking it into potty mode and thus takes a while to set up. Is also tricky to collapse. Especially hard to do all this with bags attached. Please tell me it gets less stiff or am I doing something wrong? I wanted it to be very quick and easy as she can't hold on.

We've got a potette (they didn't make the plus version when we were potty training ds1!). I did find that the clicking it in and out of position got easier with a bit of use.

Good luck with using it out and about!

and I really whip this out in the middle of the high street/marks and spencers food hall?

You get the hang of it.

We mainly used ours in the boot of the car when on long journeys or shielded by the pushchair when outside. I never used it in a shop/high street, could always get to public loos in time.

No, I never did that! If you were in the High St or Marks and Spencers, then toilets really aren't that far away!

We used ours for in the park, on the beach that sort of thing.

Your not the only one...mines collapsed a few times as I havent clicked it in properly, and other times pulled the leg clean off trying to unclip it! It is slowly getting easier to use though. Generally I try to get to a public loo if we're out, I take him for a wee before we leave home, whilst out and before we set off to come home to be on the saffe side!!

Ive found it really useful at the park or beach though, as its pretty discreet and just set it up next to our pile of stuff for ds to use

It does get easier with practice OP. I have the Potette Plus too, and after a few go's you get the hang of it. We mainly use it when we are in secluded places like a park (where toilets are nowhere to be seen) or the beach, or on car journeys where there's no toilets nearby. Sometimes just use the normal potty which we have in the car too for car journeys.

DS now using Potette as a toilet seat when at restaurants now rather than the potty bit. Saves on using those liners!!
Good luck with it.

They get less stiff with time. At first I thought ours was a waste of money, since DD hated weeing into the bag/sitting that low (and in fact regressed a bit after refusing to go on the PP in a train). So I continued to carry a small potty around, which is a lot less bulky than it sounds in a summer beach bag - in fact I took an ordinary potty to a wedding/in plane carry-on luggage etc without too much trouble. And it's as easy to find a place to empty a potty as it is to find somewhere to deposit a bag of wee

However, the Potette Plus came into its own a little later on as a loo seat - it made the transition to public loos a lot easier.
