Hi, this my first post on mumsnet.
I have twins and have been preparing them for potty training for ages, they love sitting on the potty, occasionally do wees and poos, love flushing the chain etc etc they come to the toilet with me etc. I did the 'potty training in a week'with one twin 2 weeks ago - success, we did the putting her on the potty every 15 mins for the first day then lengthening the periods - she asks to go on the potty (first 5 days of training no accidents) and since then has been pretty good and is doing well. Have now started with the second twin. She likes sitting on the potty and can do so for 15 mins at a time, pulls up own pants, likes to flush chain, watches twin sister on potty etc. AFter 2 days though of putting her on the potty every 15 mins she has yet to do one on the potty! she had 1 accident yesterday and 4 today, she is trying really hard (as are we!) but is yet to get out the starting blocks. she is back at nursery on monday and I don't think we will have progressed beyond day 1! tomorrow we are going to extend the gaps between potty visits to half an hour as we don't want her to become completly fed up with the potty. she gets lots of praise for going on the potty/reading favourite book etc and gets stickers etc for doing a wee.

any tips? (she is 2.5)

All sounds a bit frantic and stressful to me.

I just gave mine a potty when I thought they may be ready and put a tube of smarties on the windowsill with the promise of one for each wee in the potty. No pressure.

I believe in making these things relaxed and fun, maybe when a few wees have already been done on the potty. How about leaving it until she seems really ready?

It's early days!
DS1 is 2.6, and we are 2 weeks in. We had about 3 days of weeing everywhere (but the potty) while he got the hang of the feel of it.
I generally find that he will not go when you want him to. I can sit and read books for ages, bribe him with stickers, stories etc. But if he's not ready, he wont perform.
I found after a few days, he would touch himself, or start to dance when the "wee wee is coming", and I pop him on then. Saves the hours of sitting and waiting.
Also, be gald of the nursery days - they can clean up for a bit!!

Are your twins idential? Maybe one child is ready and the other isn't.

Prehaps if twin 2 is not interested then its better to try potty training again in three months.

Lots of children aren't potty trained at two and half years old.

Better success today she had 4 wees in the potty and only two accidents so I think progress! she was soooo happy and had lots of chocolate buttons and stickers. Hurray, feel like we are getting somewhere!
