My daughter is 2 (3 in June) and has been dry for 6 months, although she has still been using a nappy to poop in. We've never really pushed the issue about using the toilet/potty for pooing in - she has used them when we're out without nappies - but she has now decided not to poo at all. She says 'it hurts inside her bottom' - I'm assuming that she must have had a sore bum (no sign of constipation and as she's been pooping in nappies, it's hard to miss!). It's only been 3 days this time but I want to avoid it turning into a problem...any ideas?
I've tried talking to her about it, reasoning with her, bribing her, sticker charts - I think I will take her to the doctor's when I can get an appointment, but I figured that other people must have had a similar issue so I thought I would ask..!

Hello I had exactly the same thing with my dd, she was dry from 2yrs 4months but would only poo in a nappy and only when no one was watching her! I didn't push the issue until it got to the point where she was making herself constipated and then she got herself in a real state when she needed to go. Eventually I saw her GP and got some movocol which worked brilliantly and within a week she was pooing on the toilet. Thinking back I think I lined the potty with loo roll and when she was comfortable with going on that put some loo roll down the loo before she went - if that makes sense?!!! And obviously laid on the praise very thickly once she was going regularly!!! Good luck x

It's nice to know I'm not the only one! (Or should I say, my dd isn't the only one..!) We've managed miraculously to get an appointment with the GP this morning, so hoping that he can help - movocal sounds like ti might help. And the loo roll tip is great - once she's going again, I will definitely give it a go.

Thanks for your help, will let you know how I get on x
