as above really - I need to get round to buying a potty for DS and would appreciate some advice re the best sort.

I have seen the Fisher Price "Royal" one online. I have also looked at the one on the Grobag site which looked very tasteful in terms of fitting in with our bathroom!

The ones that convert into a stepstool/trainer toilet seat appeal.

Any advice welcome!

We just had a blue one from poundland

You can spend £1.79 in Ikea or £25 on the FP one - it doesn't matter - he'll still prefer to pee all over every floor, surface and object in your house.

Sorry - unhelpful post, but we're on day 6, getting nowhere and I'm going slowly insane

You need to get one with a decent sticking up bit at the front, so that his willy doesn't keep popping out mid-wee and therefore hosing the floor. (Recent experience!)

Boots have a big blue potty (we have the pink one) and the front bit is quite high. I bought one for dd2 as she has special needs and we have only just started potty training at the age of 4, this was the only potty that was not too close to the ground and had a big enough bit at the front to stop wee shooting over.

Similar to this although the design has changed as i bought mine last year.

Could I just get this for a large 22 month old?

why not get a toddler toilet seat and a step - much cheaper

hobbgoblin · 04/04/2010 15:23

Baby Bjorn always used to do a very high fronted potty perfect for boys. I can't find the same one I am thinking of but they still do this which doesn't look bad and in a variety of colours.

To be honest, I'm not that bothered about cost, I want the most convenient/ suitable one! none of them seem all that expensive really.

But a simple plastic potty and/or a seat and step are easy / convenient / suitable

IMoveTheStars · 05/04/2010 21:28

this one

DS won't sit on a normal potty, so the chair ones suits us well. (Tesco/Mothercare/everywhere sell very similar ones)

Thank you for all the replies!

I was eyeing up steps and seats in Mothercare today.

The potty chair looks comfy, thank you - would I then need a separate potty for travel though as well? And if so which one? Or would it be best to get a step and seat, and a travel potty, and then see how we get on?

We have an ikea potty upstairs and a cheapy asda one for downstairs. He won't fit on the mothercare one (well his bum fits on but his willy is either very squashed or hanging out!)

I also bought a folding potette travel potty from mothercare which you put bags in and then throw the filled bags out. This doubles up as a loo seat for out and about, although we are only on day 2 and have only left the house very briefly or to play in the garden. Potty came outside too!
