We're in the second week of potty training and going on a big trip out this weekend.
We've made good progress but there are still lots of accidents. I'm very worried as i am taking my DS up to Scotland on Sunday (by plane from London) - we will be travelling for a fair few hours, door to door. It will all be exciting and new for him so concentrating on whether he needs to wee will prob be the last thing on his mind. It's just the two of us, and I will have to carry all his stuff and mine (prob in a rucksack) so taking a lot of potty training gear isn't very realistic.
i am very reluctant to put a nappy on him, as it might confuse him/send out mixed messages, but the alternative could be lots of accidents and stress all round. How would you handle this situation? (apart from not going, which isn't an option!) Would it do a lot of harm to put a nappy on?
Any tips on long trips out of the house in early stages of potty training gratefully received.

if it is going to make it less stressful then I would use a pull up but still take him regularly to the toilet - at least you can use the pull up like pants but it isnt the end of the world if he does have an accident

You could go with the pull-up, but emphasise the difference between it and a nappy.

We take a Potette plus out with us as it folds up very small and DD refuses to use most toilets. She's been potty trained for almost 2months now, but we have our first flight next week and I'm not looking forward to it!

Hope your trip is accident free!

I have a potette, not used it yet as DS is way behind that but it seems fantastic, no emptying and cleaning!

bring pullups but don't put them on unless you have to, ie poor access to loo. otherwise just take him whenever you can and every half hour ideally. will stop you mouldering in seat too!
