DD (3.3) finally out of nappies about a month ago, on 3rd attempt at potty training. It was going ok and she was using potty or toilet, and having 1 or 2 accidents a day, usually later in the day when she got more tired. So far, so good. Just lately the number of accidents has increased and she's had two this morning. She's normally been fine in the mornings. It's as if she isn't even trying. What do I do?

DS2 aged 2.5 was like this, he has an older brother so was keen to get on with potty training so he could pee in the loo at the same time (!)

He was two steps forward one step back, especially when busy, he just pee and poo himself.

I made a chart for the fridge, with sad and happy faces from Clip On on Word. Sad for accidents happy for using the loo/potty. He loved it and got to Pritt them on himself. It did the trick after about 2 weeks.

I think they will still have little accidents now and then, he got his potty in front of the TV on Monday, while I was putting washing away upstairs, he then jumped all over the sofa with his poo bum, as I was clearing up, the Sky man came and he was trying not to gag as I removed the loose covers!

From what I remember Potty training took a long while with lots of accidents and backwards steps ... esecially when out and about and on long car journeys (we're talking months and months here!!) once they were dry in the day then there was the problem of being dry in the night!! Keep positive and dont put pressure on yourself or your child. My youngest daughter has been dry in the day for over a year but still wears a nappy at night so I still have all that to go.. lots of bed wetting etc. They WILL get there eventually and you will one day have forgotten all about the problems you had with potty training and have another problem to concern yourself with... usually schooling!!! Dont listen to mums who've had dry children since 18 months. Your daughter will be dry soon enough if it is a pleasant and rewarding experience.

I do need to relax a bit, don't I? I think I was just getting stressed because she's had so many accidents today that it's as if we're back where we started. I think she is picking up on my reaction though so I need to back off a bit.
