Won't use the toilet when out?

Ds is 3 and only recently reliably dry in pants. All is good except for poos when we're out and about.

He's fine about weeing standing up in public toilets but point blank refuses to sit on the toilet, even when it's obvious that he's desperate for a poo. Accidents follow obviously.

This is a fairly new thing and I think stems from a recent train journey when he was spooked by the train toilets (with quite frankly, revolting results). He mainly uses the potty at home as well although we've got a seat.

Do I need to buy one of those travel potty things? I don't want to have to drag around unnecessary kit, but I suppose it's better than the dirty pants lottery.

The potette plus travel potty does double as a little folding training seat so it might make him feel more secure on the toilet if he doesn't like the big toilet seat.

Thanks, I've just been looking at that on Amazon actually.

How much room does it take up. Is it the sort of thing that would go in a shoulder bag?

Probably as long as it was a reasonably roomy one. I used to keep mine in one of those kids back packs along with a spare pair of pants and trousers. I'm only talking about the Thomas the tank type ones too meant for toddlers so they're not very big bags.

Actually ds has one of those that I put a spare pair of trousers & pant in so why not?

Off to Amazon I go.

Thanks for your help.

Pants obviously. I don't pant in it. That would be weird.
