DS is 2.11 and is quite happy to do wees on the toilet and will tell me when he needs to go and has been like that for a number of months, however Poo's are a different matter. He holds on to them all day and then when I have put a nappy on for when he goes to bed he does it then and therefore when I go to check on him at about 9ish at night I have to get him up to change him.

We have tried sitting him on potty/toilet before he goes to bed but with no luck any ideas?

No ideas except to tell you you are not alone, dd pooed in nappies till she was 4!

I did read that it's because they feel a bit like they are losing part of themselves when they poo (or something similarly psychological) and to maybe start them off by lying a nappy in the potty to "catch" it etc.

Tbh, I just couldn't be arsed, and when she wanted a nappy for a poo I gave her one.

She stopped from one day to the next, but as I said, she was 4.

Dd also did this. Was dry at 2.5 months but pooed in her pants for several months after....would say she needed a poo but refused to sit on the toilet. Have to say that we resorted to a bit of bribery and corruption to get her to stay on the toilet until she'd had the poo! We used chocolate buttons and found that once she'd done it once she was a lot happier to do it in the loo again!

My DD is the same at nearly 3.5. Has been day-dry for about 10 months. We bought her a taller potty (so that she can sit without her knees up practically touching her chin!) and she seemed more comfortable. Went through a week of doing a poo virtually daily and thought we'd cracked it but now she doesn't want to know again! I'm thinking of using the Christmas hols to leave nappies off and see what happens!
