Travelling with potty trainee

My DS (2.5) is in week 3 of potty training and is doing fine (as long as I remind him or take him to the potty). We are still in the stage of taking his own potty everywhere even to nursery or childminder's (where there are other potties to use). We are off to Paris on eurostar next week and I'm wondering if I should start to 'forget' to take the potty with us when we go out so he can start to get used to using someone elses or have to use a loo (he doesn't mind using our loo at home)so it's not such a shock to the system? I don't/can't take the potty with us as we have a 10 month old plus buggy plus travel cot to take on the train! Any advice on travelling with a potty trainee gratefully received.

we potty-trained DS at around the same time - 2.5: he's 3 now and i still take his potty with us if we're going to be out for the day. he's fine for wees but he won't have a poo in our toilet at home, never mind anyone elses, so i just dont want to get caught out and for him to be embarrassed or upset.

i think its better to have the potty there than not: i know you have a lot to carry on the train, but are you sure you can't find room for it? i think you can even get pop-up potties that have disposable linings...

the pop up potties are great - Tommee Tippee Potettes (stupoid name but great things!)
I used one with my sons and it's been indispensable - folds up to pop in a shoulder bag, has liners with absorbant pad in and all you do is pop it open and then sling the soiled liner and put anothyer one on ready for the next time it's needed.
will try and find link

Just thought I'd mention this re: your journey.

Ds, who's a pretty robust wee boy usually, refused point blank to use the train toilets on the way down to London recently (5.5 hr journey). I think it was the noise and the movement.

Anyway, having a potty with us would have made the journey a hell of a lot more pleasant. It was not a good experience . I didn't have pull-ups as he'd been doing so well and they didn't have any at the station. BIG mistake.

Thanks all so much - have now a potette! And in the meantime have been 'forgetting' potty when we go out so he's now managed to do a wee in Tescos amongst other places on a big loo! Great tip re:train loos - yes, they're frightening for anyone!
