Infant Potty Training - bizarre!!

Has anyone ever heard of someone doing this, I mean I am fairly open to new things but this sounds quite bizarre when the end result is that they are potty trained at 25 months. The only benefit is not using nappies...

Curious!

Apologies if I sounded a bit crass or insensitive.

What I can say is that it took dd2 a while to get the idea, but once she did, I found it really useful. (My other point being that it showed she was aware of dirty nappies at quite a young age, even though they didn't appear to bother her particularly).

At the risk of making myself unpopular with Pamper and Huggies etc. Disposable nappies has made parents lazy when it comes to toilet training. All the adverts, pull ups etc has made it "normal" for most children, who are more than capable of using a toilet, to stay in nappies. Of course there are children who have other issues as well, who take longer. But it doesnt change the fact that now we leave it very late to stop using nappies.
It must be very hard for a child to understand when on one side mummy and daddy are teaching them how to do things like riding a scooter, feeding themselves but then still expect them to poo in their pants!!!

It's absolute guff about there being a link between speaking well and potty training. There is a link between walking and PT, but speech is unrelated. "Wee" was one of DS's first words. All he had when we started was "da!" and the ability to point. The first time he asked to wee was by pointing at the bathroom.

I think all children are different as are parenting styles - to say something is bizarre just because you have not encountered it is quite strong. we are all experts- on our own children!! for what is's worth my ds1 was doing all poos in potty from about 18 months - he didn't walk till he was 22 months and dry and in pants daytime at 25 months, speaking well above average for age. dd2 was clean from about 12 months and dry and in pants, taking herself to toilet at 15months, dry at nights 18months so just dpends on child!! i did not follow them round with a potty, just let them take the lead. dd2 is a stubborn madam too which i think helps!! I actually can't remember changing pooey nappies now and she is only just past 2! i don't think my ids are more intelligent, just have good bladder control and i was glad that they were more comfortable by me allowing the opportunity to go if they wanted to. it has actually made some of my friends realise you don't have to wait till 3 to train and they are happily starting at around 2 instead of waiting another year like pampers want them to.
