Advice on Potty Training in a Small, Carpeted Flat

Dd is 21 months and starting to show signs that she may be ready for potty training. Have been reading up on it and a lot of the advice about allowing dcs to wander around nappy free seems to presume that we all live in houses with gardens and wooden floors. Anyone potty trained in a small, carpeted flat? TIA

Wish I had one of those houses!
Suggest you get a lot of towels in strategic places and/or bathmats. Do you have carpet in kitchen and bathroom too? I spent much of early pt time in one or other of those rooms because they had lino. Accidents do happen but as long as LO is drinking plenty it isn't too awful to clean up wee, poo is usually easier to spot coming IME (grunting, stopping talking etc)......
Good luck.

Thanks lanky - great suggestions. Had kind of put pt to the back of my mind - seeing all that's involved now, I can see why I did that. Must get my head around it. Thanks again.

Nappy free is not at all necessary with potty training! You can leave your child in a nappy and take regular potty/toilet breaks and let her learn slowly through positive reinforcement instead of through discomfort and learning from her mistakes.
