I am currently trying to potty train DS 2.6.

He is perfectly clean and dry when he isn't wearing anything but as soon as we put pants and trousers on him it's a different matter. It seems like he holds it for too long and then cant't physically hold it any longer. He will wet a bit in his trousers and then stop and go on his potty.

At the moment I am praising him when he uses the potty and he loves flushing the contents down the loo and saying bye bye. When he has an accident I put clean clothes on him and say that he should've told me he needed a wee wee so he could use his potty.

How do I get him to go more often, when I ask if he needs to sit on the potty he tells me no.

rather than asking him if he needs the toilet just tell him you are going to the potty/toilet at regular intervals so something like 'come on it's time to do a wee wee - who's going to get there first?' (ds likes being the winner so this works for us!)

DS went through a short period of dribbling in his pants but after a while managed to hold it in longer and wouldnt dribble before realising he needed to go to the toilet. I never did the naked from the waist down thing as it means you need to reteach them with their clothes on

Thank you

I managed to persuade him to sit on the potty a couple of times earlier so we haven't had anymore accidents today
