Is there a difference between using nappies, vs pull-ups at nighttime?

So apologies if this is somewhat of a newbie first time mum question!

But, for an older - fully daytime potty trained kid (5 yr/old) - is there a reason why we should be using primarily the pull-up sort of nappy pants/nighttime pull-ups overnight? As opposed to the larger sized proper side tab fastening nappies? For a kid that is a DEEP sleeper and still wakes up wet most nights, more often than not?

To be honest, my son had been wearing the nighttime pull-ups for years now. We ran into a situation on a family trip a while ago where we had to use a borrowed (proper) nappy as a backup plan B option for DS at nighttime, and he frankly told me the following day that they felt way more comfy for him to wear all night..?? (the inside felt basically the same to me to his pull-ups, same material).

A pull up is easier for the kid to put on and take off themselves, like when going to the loo first thing. I think that's important to give them some independence. 5yo is on the older side to still be wet at night - what time is his final wee in the toilet? How long does he sleep for?

I think it may be a capacity thing.

Pull-Ups and DryNites are more expensive but are designed to be more age-appropriate but the truth is that tape on nappies actually hold a lot more and can be bought much much cheaper.

If your child is showing no sign of being dry yet, and is happy to wear tape on nappies, then rejoice and bank the savings!

5 isn’t too old for still being wet at night.

DryNites go up to size age 13+ for a reason!

Sadly, my autistic DD who is becoming too big for even the 13+ size DryNites would
never wear tape on type nappies even if they are cheaper and hold more.

The idea is that the kid can be more independent putting their own on like pants, instead of having to lie down and be changed like a baby. If your 5yo is fine with it, it's fine. They may become more self conscious about it as they get older (it's not uncommon to night wet until 7-8)
