Training at nursery

Hi all, we tried potty training with a very relaxed approach back in summer but my DD wasn’t ready.
Giving it another go now and yesterday went well with lots of wees in the potty, she’s going to it herself and seems to quite enjoy it 😂
She’s 2 years and 3 months and I’ve removed nappies altogether and have her with a bare bum or underwear.

My question is, how long do you think it will take? I’m in no rush and will follow her lead but she goes to nursery twice a week and I worry about her being unsettled with it there.

I’ll speak to the nursery as I know they support potty training but I feel worried about her at nursery!

We could only do 3 days at home (planned for some annual leave to do more but had to use it up on sickness). By end of 3 days at home he was able to reliably go to the potty when naked and with loose trousers on. Nursery were brilliant but he had loads of accidents there for I'd day the first week (he goes 4 days). Then for a week or so Id say he had one accident a day there. They said to give it at least a week to see improvement there - they were taking him regularly and he was using the potty or toilet but he wasn't self initiating for a bit so was having accidents aswell. We are lucky they were so supportive and didn't expect more progress but tbf at home he was doing great in the 3 days we stayed home he had no accidents. It took him a while to get confident to ask them to go, especially if playing in the garden and having to leave the fun. They are all different though - a friends girl had rhe opposite issue and held her wee for 6 hours at first!

how long is a piece of string? Some
od my friends kids did it in weeks but for some reason my daughter took years

Some get it very quickly in days, and some take a lot longer. For nursery the main thing is that she is able to take herself to the toilet as although they will help, especially when potty training, there may be times where they aren’t able to take her immediately and she needs to take herself. She also obviously has to wear clothes at nursery and be able to pull her own trouser/pants down. Nursery are used to it and will expect some accidents.

Thanks all, do you think it would be a terrible idea to put her in a pull up still for nursery?

I’m just conscious that she’s only been going there a few weeks so just settled really.

Maybe just give it a go if she’s getting on well at home. Potty training has been a long and difficult process with my daughter but she actually has less accidents at nursery than at home. They are happy to prompt them at our nursery which I know is not always recommended but has resulted in pretty much no accidents apart from a few on the first day.
