Hello just looking for advice / wanted to see if I’m the only one as it feels like it. But recently my 7 year old has starting wetting his pants again and it’s driving me mad.
it’s not a full wee but it leaves a small patch. It doesn’t happen everyday but happens frequently. Still dry at night.
anyway to top it off my 4 year old has followed suit and has joined in with wetting and sometimes pooing in pants.
both were fully potty trained.
no changes in home life or school life.
im at my wits end as potty training was bad enough and i feel like its back to it.

has anyone else had this? Is it common? What do I do?!

help!

Perhaps it just means she's not wiped herself properly especially if it's only a little bit, how would you know this?

Springadorable · 18/05/2025 19:16

Sounds very much like a UTI. I'd get them to the GP.

Would there be other signs if it was uti?
will try for an gp appointment

Could be uti .
Could be constipation or poor interoception

It happens before as he is on his way to the toilet I think.
I did think maybe it was a dribble after so initially I did start saying to him to wipe after he’s been

Take a wee sample with you to appointment in a clean pot. They can test it there and then

I'd definitely start with the GP. And then if that's clear (they'll do a quick urine test) you can explore other options.

Hello @Littlemermaid1010 my son is currently going through this now. He is dry at night but during the day there are small patches on his boxers. How’s your little one? Are things still the same?

@Mumoftwo367743 I took them to the dr in the end. Dr said if not a full accident then almost ignore it as it’s just one of them things, he said grown men even have it sometimes 🤷‍♀️ dr ruled out uti. He also said about there’s a certain thing they are supposed to do when going to the toilet with their bits and if they don’t do it that can cause the little patches.

since drs trip I almost ignored it and my husband showed them what they need they need to do when going for a wee. And it has stopped completely. I can’t even remember the last time they done it.
we had one full accident on holiday when he got his shorts tied to tight / left it to late but other than that it seems to have sorted itself

@Littlemermaid1010 hey, do you mind sharing what the doctor advised you to do “there’s a certain thing they are supposed to do when going to the toilet with their bits and if they don’t do it that can cause the little patches.”

I’m just really worried as has been potty trained since he was 5 years old. He has been okay for the past two years until recently (a month ago) he has started getting little patches himself during the day. Sometimes he wets himself. I don’t know what to do because we didn’t have this problem before. Should I put him back in pull-ups?

Sounds like uti, not wiping properly or rushing at the loo.
