DD 2 years old with sibling coming in 4 months should I potty train now?

She does sometimes announce poo poos! I'm wondering if I should get this done now to avoid split focus later?
My other question the book I read "Oh crap" suggested doing night training at the same time although I think most people don't do this, does this work well. My hesitation is that we are still in a cot bed with sides and sleepsac and I'd have to take these off and go to duvet and I'm not sure if I'm ready for DD to be wandering around her room at night, at the moment she's nicely trapped in her sleepsac and huge cot :)

There’s no rush. Honestly! I had the same thought - daughter was 2 and new baby was due. People said ‘ooo you don’t want to do 2 sets of nappies!’… why not? It’s not the hard part of parenting.

we waited til baby was 6 months and daughter was 2yrs 9 months. It was so easy as she was very ready. If they’re at nursery you can ask nursery to start giving them the chance to wee on the potty etc. make sure you have a potty in the bathroom for exposure.

night training isnt necessary yet, they’ll often have a dry nappy and do a big wee in the morning, but again, no need to rush. Ours is in a cot bed with duvet (climbed out about 4 months ago!) but don’t have access to the bathroom as we have a lot of stairs! Eventually when 3 or so we’ll make sure she can go independently at night and then take her nappy off. If they aren’t dry over night it is a hormonal thing, not to do with ‘training’ necessarily.

When my DD was born my DS was 2 1/2 and completely toilet trained. I made a huge effort to make him self sufficient before my DD was born. I didn’t use a potty at all. (I was put off by a friend’s DD always sitting on one in front of the TV).

It’s much easier to train without the distraction of a baby.

This will entirely depend on your kid and how ready they are.
Later worked better for us. We tried for a short while before 2 was due and he just wasn't ready - doing it in the summer was much easier.
2nd baby born in Feb when 1st was 2yr10ms. We waited till the summer so he could wander nappy free, didn't use a pot, straight on the loo and was all sorted within a week or so. Having a downstairs loo helped.
