Tiny girl, no tiny knickers?

Hey guys! I’m a first time mum to a 15 month old who is very much on the small side! She’s only now fitting into 6-9 months, and with potty training around the corner I’m struggling to find anywhere that sells knickers that are going to fit her? Was just wondering if anyone here has been through something similar and could point me in the right direction, or offer some tips? TIA

you can get tiny knickers on Amazon, but they'll be their own brand so not sure how good they'll be. I know this isn't answering your question but if she's 15m and potty training is only round the corner, that is still very very young - she might be a lot older by the time she needs them!

My DD was premmie and very tiny at potty training. It was a few years ago now but the only place I could get them was Sainsbury’s. I think they were 18-24m but came up super tiny.

My son was tiny and potty trained fully by 20/21 months - no relapses, no regression - he’s now at secondary school so this was years ago. I had used cloth nappies and all my kids were done fully by 23 months. So it’s worth looking for signs she is ready - not that you asked but you will get so many people say it’s not possible and they will ‘regress’.

I started popping him on the loo at bath times and when he woke up at around 16 months.

I got age 12- 18 month year boys pants from boots. I have girls too and I recommend boys pants for all. Thicker, more durable and last longer. Plus no elastic bits that dig in.

if you are not using cloth nappies now it’s worth using them - they worked really well for mine. I think they feel uncomfy when wet so are more aware.

My twins were teenie tiny for potty training at just under 18 months. No issues with pants just bought smallest size from a supermarket.

Just get them in a bigger size - there’s not that much difference in the sizes and being a bit looser makes it much easier for them to pull them up and down.

I potty trained DS at 18 months and DD at 20 months and I think 18-24 month pants existed but I deliberately sized up. Even now they are much older I get them in bigger sizes to get more wear out of them!

HundredPercentUnsure · 20/03/2025 09:03

I just bought the smallest size I could find for mine....and they've only just grown them (aged 4). 😂

skkyelark · 20/03/2025 09:15

Sizing up doesn't work for everyone – depends how much too big they are, how much the elastics move around, if they end up with a wedgie, etc. My smallest finds too big pants very uncomfortable.

H&M used to do tiny sizes, down to 6-12 months, if you can find any old stock. Those were the only ones we had that really fitted. M&S ones with the flat elastic (not the frilly elastic) run fairly small and stay in place better than most. I've heard Primark run small, but haven't tried them.

Sofiewoo · 20/03/2025 09:17

There really isn’t much difference, they aren’t going to fall down with trousers on top anyway.
Unless you’re literally potty training next week though I wouldn’t bother ordering anything yet.

I remember buying Boden ones when potty training my DDs, who were both really small. Those knickers wash and dry really well, which is helping when they have accidents. They are also the most comfortable ones I could find - we kept buying them up until about age 10 actually ! As never found anything else with such a nice fit

Another vote for Tu at Sainsbury's. Their 4-5 yo knickers are the same size as 2-3 in next, so I imagine their 18-24 will be micro.

Favouritefruits · 20/03/2025 09:34

Buy them from a cheap shop like primak once you’ve washed and dried them once they shrink a few sizes. They do 12-18month knickers.

Thank you all for the recommendations!
I don’t plan on starting with the potty training just yet, just want to be prepared with where to buy from when the time comes. She’s a slow grower, and only moved into 6-9 within the last month so I can imagine she’s still going to be a dot when we do start. Think I’ll give Tu and Primark a whirl before looking into other options. Thanks again!
