Night time dryness

Hi,

DS is nearly 5 and still in pull ups at night. I understand about the hormone which is needed for dryness at night.

Been keeping and eye on it and 9 days out of 10 the pull up is dry as a bone. But then there will be one day that he is completely soaked through.

Was going to take the leap and loose the pull ups but I'm really not sure... any advice?

I’d ditch them as 9 dry nights out of 10 implies you’re there with the hormone. Personally I waited until we had a week dry overnight and then got rid of the pull ups and I think you just buy a waterproof mattress protector and accept there might be the odd accident. I think you can also look at triggers and avoid those for a bit- it might be staying up late then sleeping more deeply, salty dinner so chugging more water than usual before bed, drinking blackcurrant squash, caffeine in the afternoon most likely in the form of chocolate, falling asleep in the car and being transferred so not doing a wee before bed - those sorts of things. Takeaway pizza is a big one for DS who has just turned 4 as it usually goes along with a late night and drinking more water. So on those nights I just lift him onto the loo and voila dry bed in the morning.

Ditch them, get a rubber sheet and disposable bed mats.

Expect a few accidents.

Thanks both - will go for it over the weekend once the mattress protector arrives.

Definitely potentially when he is in a deeper sleep and has a 'lie in'
