Nursery put a nappy back on!

So DD is 27 months, she first used the Potty at 18 months, got pretty good at 23 months but was about to move into a different room so we held off potty training. At home she uses the Potty a lot, I finally had some time off work and had 4 fully focused days on potty training.
Day 1 - naked waist down, 2 accidents
Day 2 - same
Day 3 - some naked some pants, struggled getting trousers up and down 1 accident
Day 4 - wore trousers most of the day had 2 accidents, 1 because she didn't get her trousers down in time.
Day 5 nursery, I told them about the potty training, the lady didn't tell another member of staff so I got a phone call asking why she wasn't wearing a nappy! DD had gone to tell someone she needed a wee, they ignored her as she 'wears a nappy' so she went to the toilet to tell the lady in there she had done a wee wee. They immediately phoned me, said she's needs a nappy on.

They then suggested she needed 2-3 weeks being potty trained at home before coming to nursery.

They said there are 20 other kids there, they can't be watching her if she needs the toilet.

Also the toilet isn't close to the garden so she needs to be able to hold it.

I feel like they aren't interested in potty training her and feel deflated. She had done so well, and this evening she said no potty mummy nappy 😔

Any suggestions?

That sucks. She did really well telling them she needed to go, and in my opinion if she said that and was wearing a nappy they should've tried her on the potty anyway!! To be honest I'd be looking to move her somewhere more supportive.

Our nursery were more supportive so I don't know the answer tbh.

I agree that is rubbish OP. My DD is 3 but still in nappies. She goes to pre school and nursery and wears pull ups and at both they encourage her to try on the toilet/potty with the other DC. She actually had her first actual wee on the toilet at nursery the other day.

“They said there are 20 other kids there, they can't be watching her if she needs the toilet.”

That’s nonsense. For under 3s they should have 1 adult per 4 children, so someone should be available to help her! They sound like they don’t even want to be helpful. I don’t have any advice other than maybe try to speak to the manager and get clarity on their policy on this.

This seems really unsupportive to me. It's a stressful time when you start potty training and you need the support of nursery. Do they think parents can just take 2/3 weeks off to do this?

By comparison ours have been lovely and really made things easier... helped with cloth nappies and were positive about potty training, didn't make us feel bad or anything at all, dealt with plenty of wee and poo accidents without batting an eyelid.

I imagine it absolutely must be difficult for the staff, and totally not always possible to be watching the child properly for their cues that they need the toilet. But they should at least try to be helpful as it can be done, just seems like they aren't willing to

I'd look for another other nursery. If they're this lazy and unsupportive with potty training imagine what they're like the rest of the time your DD is there.

Aw I feel so disheartened on your poor dds behalf 😭 This happened to me with my son when he began potty training, they said at nursery that he kept having accidents so put him back in nappies. It was frustrating as he was doing so well at home. I found them putting the nappy on totally set him back again for about a week. Eventually with perseverance he's now pretty much potty trained but it did take about 3 months in total . My older two seemed much quicker.
