Twins - Night Time nappypants

My twin boys have just turned 5 years old. They are still in night time nappy pants and sleep right through. Nappy pants show they have peed through the night.

I have tried the following:

  • pee before bed
  • stop any drink 1-1.5 hrs before bedtime

The health visitor told me not to wake them up for a 'dream pee' as they are not learning when they need to wake up and go to the bathroom.

I am getting upset and worried as I have no idea how to get them out of nappy pants. They are absolutely fine during day.

Any advice is appreciated

I wouldn't worry OP. Being dry at night requires some hormonal maturity and some kids just need a bit longer. My dd was 5 or 6. It will happen when they're ready and it's not worth stressing over it.

And don't withhold drinks. The brain needs to learn to wake them up when bladder is full.

Don't stress op. My twins turned 7 still in night pull ups but one suddenly stopped needing them early in the summer holidays and the other one seems to be following suit. I was told by GP when I went about it when they were 5/6 not to worry and that when they are around 7 a hormone kicks in and they stop night wetting and it looks like he was right.

Don't withhold drinks. Nighttime dryness is hormonal. My Dts weee in pull ups at least until the beginning of y1. Can't quite remember now. It's 7 until you'd get a referral and boys are statistically later for nighttime dryness.

Is it old fashioned to stop the nappy pants? We found that just removing nappies helped enormously with night training.

Thank you for the replies. It gives me some relief!
