3 year old constant little accidents

My (just) 3 year old son was potty trained at 2.5 and took to it quite well, no accidents for ages. But in the last 4 weeks, he's been constantly wetting himself. It's not normally a full wee, but he'll suddenly get a wet patch on the front of his trousers and then I'll take him to the loo and he'll wee 'properly' then.

We keep having the conversation over and over about telling me before it comes out in his pants but it'll happen same again next time.

The only way to stop the constant changes of pants/trousers is to force him to come to the toilet every 45mins/hour and 1) I think he should be able to tell me himself (seeing as he used to do it just fine!) and 2) nursery don't have the time to do this so he's coming home with 5 or 6 wet pants/trousers in his bag each day.

Any tips?

Are you sure he doesn't have a UTI? That would explain the partial wetting.

I would take him every hour for a while, to get him back in routine, can you try a sticker chart for every wee that he goes on the toilet and one for keeping pants clean.

I did have that thought but there are no other signs or symptoms and it's been quite a few weeks of the pant wetting.

Yes maybe a sticker for dry pants could work.

It took my boys 8 and 6 months to stop having daily accidents, starting at over 3, but that was before they were ever dry. I know for them that I should have left it until they were properly ready, but nursery demanded potty training.

My daughter was dry in a matter of days at 2y 9mo, but then had spells of wetting, often just small leaks, which were always down to a UTI. The UTIs didn't always worsen for quite some while, but we learned to see wetting as a sign to take her for a test even when there were no other symptoms. We gradually worked out that she was dairy intolerant and that the recurrent UTIs were probably due to constipation problems. Finding out if there is a UTI would be my first step based on my experience.
