Loosing patience on day 4

Hi
Started potty training my daughter on Monday. She is 3 next month. Been trying to keep pants off, but she sometimes gets upset and wants them on. She also asks for her nappy sometimes.

She very rarely sits on the potty and has not yet done a wee in the potty. I can usually tell when she needs to go, but she won't sit on the potty and gets very upset if I try and make her sit on the potty. She's not interested in the toilet with toddler seat either.

I read potty stories to her and she seemed excited when we bought the big girl pants.

Has anyone any success stories with a child like this?

It took me three attempts over months. It stressed me out and we weren't getting anywhere. My mum told me not to stop when you started but I was doing all the work and my child wasn't putting in effort. We made progress the third time so I stuck with it. People say children have to be ready and I'm a big believer in this. Also some children pick it up a lot quicker than others. We had lots of accidents the first two times I tried it but the third time we only had one accident. Good luck and you will get there.

How is it going now? I’m on day 3 and I’m losing hope - did you keep it up or quit in hopes to try again?

Can't believe we started 2 weeks ago. I was so tempted to quit that night. My partner had the day off work the next day so I got a few hours off to recharge. We decided to physically hold her on the potty when the wee was coming. She fought it at first, but settled down after a few seconds. It was only a little dribble that went in but we made a big deal of it. She was very pleased with herself and was rewarded a small chocolate.
Now she is doing really well, a few small accidents , which I am not bothered about considering she wouldn't sit on the potty 2 weeks ago.
I know how frustrated you must be at this stage. A lot of people have said that going back to the potty training in a few weeks worked for them. But like you I didn't want to give up and start again. The chocolate treat works for us and she doesn't always remember that she's meant to get one.

Thank you for the response and the encouragement. I have my mum having her for a few hours so I can recharge a bit. Feeling a bit more hopeful after reading your posts. She gets a sticker and a chocolate button when she does something in the potty and is very proud of herself when she is successful but like you, just refuses to sit when I KNOW she needs one. I will try holding her over to boost success. Thank you again!
