4.5yo wees themselves at daytime...every day

I'm feeling a bit desperate. We potty trained our dc just after their 3rd birthday and they got it quite quickly. We've had accidents, and a few frustrating weeks occasionally where they've weed themselves almost daily. Now, dc is in reception. After Christmas they wee themselves everyday, without a fail. At school, they hide it and don't tell the teacher (though sometimes they notice and get the spares out). Dc can comfortably be wet most of the day. At home it happens at random times of the day; We've ruled out constipation as an issue.

We did spend time overseas during the holidays, but beyond that there have been no changes or anything else odd. Dc dos well at school. I've asked a few times about what has happened and they've just said they can't feel the wee come out, or they can't tell when they need a wee. Between 3-4, dc was dry almost without a fail. The occasional problems started after the 4th birthday, and it's gradually getting worse. Really feel like we've gone wrong somewhere but I don't know where/how.

Have you checked for a UTI?

Have you checked for a UTI?

I have tried but unless you are bleeding from every orifice you cannot get a gp appointment at our surgery. After 2 weeks of waiting, I finally have a phone consultation on Tuesday

I will also say it might be a UTI especially is your child is a girl.

Have you had a look at the Eric website? Lot of useful stuff on there. They also have a helpline:

I honestly could have written the same post. Started reception in Sept and was fine for about 6 weeks then we had a solid 2 weeks of accidents at school. We cracked that with lots of help from teachers but then it would be as soon as he would come home he would just wee for the sake of it. Mine also says I didn't feel it coming out or I didn't know I was bursting.
I did put it down to not wanting to miss out but I now think its tiredness.

I dont have a magic answer but we have just done reward charts and reminding every half hour/45 mins and its slowly working.

It does make me cross/upset when he has an accident and should have known better or is 2ft away from a toilet but I'm learning that being upset or cross about it isn't going to help. We just change and move on and restart the reward chart and I think its starting to sink in..

Just wanted you to know your absolutely not alone in this x

Ds is nearly 7 and very much like this.

he now comes home and immediately changes himself after school as he knows he’s weed during the day at school.

we’ve had a referral to the incontinence team

@jessie78 thank you so much. It's hard, isn't it? And it's difficult not to feel frustrated even though you know you shouldn't!

We've had a few dry days now which I'm thankful or. Hope you are seeing improvements too

@TheHeadOfTheHouse that sounds incredibly tough. I'm so sorry. I hope they can help you

And thank you for the Eric website tip - I've also read through that x
