Hello.
I need a bit of help. Wondered if anyone else has had this problem. Should I be worried. I am worried.
So my son is 4 years old. I started potty training him about 3 weeks ago. I did this late due to him suffering from constipation from a very young age. I was advised to not start potty training until the constipation was sorted. I didnt want to put it off anymore so I bit the bullet ans just started. My son is on medication for his constipation. He takes Laxido. These make his poo like a mashed potato consistency but the problem for me is that he doesnt do a poo once a day in one go. He does it continuously throughout the day. When I started the potty training I lowered the dose a biy as it was too much to potty train like that. My son has been keeping dry really well and never has an accident with weeing. However, all through the day he will do a little bit of poo in his pants. It doesn't look constipated. So I'm even wondering if he needs the laxatives. However, these little bits of poo smell very offensive. I have even started putting panty liners on his pants as the amount of pants he was going through was ridiculous. I dont know how to deal with this. I have tried explaining to him, showing him pictures/books etc. I ask him "where do you go poo?" He always says "potty". I dont even see him do these poos so I cant intervene. Its like he is doing it as he walks around without trying. I am starting to worry whether this is something more serious and whether it needs investigating. However, every time I have spoken to a doctor about investigating they will not listen to me or do anything. Has anyone else experienced this? I am really worrying he is going to need a nappy when he starts school at 5. Its really upsetting.
