Day 4, little progress - admit defeat?

DS is 2 years 4 months and we've been attempting potty training since Saturday. The first day went super well, lots of pees and a poo in the potty with only a few accidents.
Since then, the novelty has well and truly worn off for him. He's been bottomless and we're using a sticker chart. He gets really excited when he earns a sticker but doesn't mind being wet so accidents don't bother him at all.
We've been about 50:50 for pees on the floor/on the potty with all poos apart from the first day being on the floor. A few of the pees in the potty have been self-initiated but the majority have been after we've prompted him to try.
His speech is very good and he's now started saying "no more pees in the potty, never again" whenever he's asked to try.
We just don't seem to have made any progress and I'm back to work tomorrow so he'll need to be in clothes. Should we persevere or throw in the towel? I'm also pregnant so was very keen to make a good start on this before the new baby arrives in the new year.

It sounds like he might not be ready. We started on Sunday but DD is 2yrs 8mths so a little older and I think it can make a huge difference.
Day One- bare bottom, no accidents.
Day Two - Knickers, one accident
Day Three - Nursery with Knickers and clothes. Two accidents but I was really pleased as they were outside a lot.
Day Four - clothes, one accident.
Day Five - clothes, no accidents.
Day Six - today - back to nursery.

We did try a few months ago and the difference is huge. I think he'll obviously get there eventually, lots of people would persevere but I prefer to wait until they're ready to do it with minimal accidents.

It’s generally a bad idea to stop once you have started.
Are you following any particular method? We liked Oh Crap!

Assuming childcare was on board I’d keep going.
