If we have to go out?

So I've been putting off potty training (or trying to) for ages because everything I've read says you need a few days at home. I just can't do this - I work 4 days a week and we have have building works going on at our house meaning we have to be out and about pretty much every weekend.
My Dd is 2 and 5 months. We've had a potty out at home for ages and she's had the occasional wee and poo in it. She tells me when she needs a poo and when she's done one. Not a wee though. Nursery tell me she tries sitting on the toddler loos there and think she's more than ready to give it a go.
So I'm going to try today. My issue is we need to head out tomorrow as builders are here again and it's just too much chaos to be at home with her and her baby brother. I'm also back at work Monday.
Do you really have to stay in for 5 days?! Has anyone ever just carried on going out as normal with no problems?! I've got a travel potty but want to get her using toilets asap. Building work will be happening every weekend for a few months at least. Renovations joys!

We didn’t stay in, we had a potette, layered with liners for out and about (in an appropriate place, obv, not in the middle of a cafe 🤣)

Ooh layering it with liners makes sense, thanks @WorriedMillie ! Is the potette one that can go on a normal toilet seat as well?

Hey, my little one is the same age and I’m starting on Tuesday as I’ve got some time off work. I’m just kind of winging it but I’m planning for 3-4 days mainly at home In the first instance. I’m just not sure how you’d do it without staying in.
The general advice seems to be that once you start, no more nappies so as not to confuse them so if you’re going to be out and about from the off then i would imagine you’re going to have a lot of accidents to deal with and I think the first couple of days would ideally be spent getting them to recognise when they need to go then getting them on the potty/loo.
If that’s how you have to do it then I’d get a travel potty and take multiple spares everywhere you go. Good luck!!

Thanks @Raisinnola unfortunately I can't take time off work for it. Also I don't want to not send her to nursery when they're still going to charge me £70 a day 😂🙈
I don't plan on using nappies when out or anything like that. We just have to be out for the morning tomorrow so hopefully not too many accidents. I'm hoping nursery will be ok with it when she's back there Monday. I guess they're used to it?!

Having used both, My carry potty is way better than the potette (and a lot less wasteful).
I would try to have at least 1/2 days at home so she can get the general idea, I can't imagine trying to potty train away from home from the start is going to work very well.

Nursery did it for me as I remember. Have a chat with them.

We went out and it was chaos but we managed it. Just had to repeatedly ask if she needed it and took the potty everywhere and let her use it EVERYWHERE. We put a puppy pad on the car seat and buggy seat in case of any accidents

We are home all day today and should be able to be home most of tomorrow. House is just so dusty and workmen around so it's just tricky.
Wonder if I should just leave it. 3 hours in and she hasn't weed yet 🙈

We started potty training this week after nursery said on a Monday to crack on and put her in pants for nursery as she's more than ready. I was really pleased as I've been trying to get started for ages but DP is really anxious about accidents so he'd come home from work and put her straight in a pull in case of accidents and then still expect her to use the potty 🤦‍♀️ I mean why would she when she knows she's got a nappy on 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, she's done really well as she had a couple of days at nursery where they could get her off to a really good start, so by the time she was at home with me for a few days and we've got a couple of things to do out and about using the potty has been really well established ☺️ We take a potty out with us and ask regularly if she needs to go. We take the time to stop and use a toilet when we're passing one, even if she says she doesn't need to go (I just say Mummy needs to go) and she always ends up going. We're 4 days in and she's having the odd accident but most of the time as soon as she starts to go she holds it and gets on the potty to do the rest, so she's not having huge accidents. Good luck

My children are much older but I did it differently. I never took a potty anywhere, actually mine didn’t like potties, they preferred a toilet, with a seat at home. I didn’t feel it had to be done in a week or any set time. We talked about it a lot, had stories, etc. and then we switched to pull ups, so we used them as pants, but no problem if they had an accident. The difference was that they felt wet if the pull up was wet. Then when they seemed ready, we switched to normal pants and had very few accidents.

It took maybe less than a month of wearing pull ups but no stress if they weed, no mess, no telling off, no pressure. I always made sure that they went to the toilet regularly, and I knew where to find one if we went out. Also fun foamy soap at home helped!

However, both of mine were very keen to potty train, they wanted to be ‘big girls’! I think that made it easier, I didn’t really need to encourage them, they were very motivated. Both were dry by about two and a half, (not at night) but I would treat each child differently and wait until they want to do it.

Thanks everyone. She's been wearing pull ups on the day for ages (nursery requested as they like to practice independently pulling down and up) so is used to weeing in them now so probably won't be able to use them!
She's had one accident and the last 3 on the potty now. But I'm asking her to try every hour. When do I start leaving it to her to say?
