Hello, I have never done anything like this before but was wondering if anyone else has gone through this trouble with a child before and who may have some advice.

My daughter keeps soiling herself. She is 4 years old nearly 5 and starts school in September. She used to struggle with constipation as a little one and was prescribed laxatives but this did not really help. She's been prescribed laxatives for over a year now on and off, and the doctor does not want to seem to investigate further even after multiple visits and neither does the health visitor. She does not fully soil her knickers every time, it is more skid marks but quite a lot and I've tried charts, praising her excessively when she doesn't and actually uses the toilet but currently I am at my end.
She will go through stages of not soiling herself for up to 8 days and then she will resort back to soiling again. So its hard to know if this is an issue that needs possible medical treatment or if she just gets lazy with using the toilet. She uses the toilet all the time for a wee but just pooping seems to be a massive issue. We've also tried just sitting her on the toilet for a bit throughout the day but this does not work either as she gets up and then goes in her knickers.

Please if anyone has any advice I would be grateful. I really want to try and resolve this before she starts school.

TIA.

from a very stressed and mentally drained mummy.
